Bard College is a program provider offering 3 abroad programs. Programs offered include Study Abroad, Internship, and Intensive Language abroad programs in 3 countries such as Kyrgyzstan, Germany, and United States.
At Bard College, we believe that truly transformative education happens when students step beyond familiar surroundings. Through Bard Abroad, we offer a select suite of academically rigorous and immersive programming—with direct enrollment opportunities at our affiliated campuses in Berlin, Bishkek, Vienna, and East Jerusalem, as well as our Bard NYC program.
Our programs are distinct: students integrate fully into local academic communities, enrolling in courses at foreign universities alongside local and international peers—far beyond the typical "American-style" study abroad model. Whether attending classes in German, Russian, Arabic, English, or other languages, Bard students immerse themselves in vibrant cultural and intellectual environments across roughly 50 countries each year.
We also offer short-term intensives—summer or winter language, arts, and theater programs abroad—further tailored to deepen our students’ academic and creative engagement.
With a foundation in liberal arts ideals, Bard Abroad emphasizes close mentorship, language acquisition, and cultural immersion. Our signature centers, such as Bard College Berlin and the American University of Central Asia in Bishkek, provide dynamic classrooms, internship opportunities, and rich intercultural exchange.
Every participant enters through a thoughtful academic petition process and benefits from dedicated advising to support credit transfer, financial aid, and preparation. Bard Abroad prepares students to grow intellectually and personally—equipping them to become engaged global citizens ready for an interconnected world.

"I know some of these are going to sound cheesy but I learned more about my own prejudices and misconceptions about people.
