Direct Enrollment/Exchange is a program provider offering 1872 abroad programs. Programs offered include Study Abroad, Internship, Volunteer, Intensive Language, Gap Year, Graduate Program, High School, Research, Online Program, TEFL Courses, and Adventure Travel abroad programs in 121 countries such as Spain, Costa Rica, Italy, and Ecuador.
Below you will find a directory of foreign universities and reviews from students who participated in an exchange, or in direct enrollment.
In a Direct Enrollment program, students have the option of applying directly to the university they wish to attend abroad. Students can go for either one or two semesters and apply using that university's application process listed for international students. Sometimes these students are called Visiting Students, Guest Students or Free Movers. At the foreign university, they will be supported by the university's office of international students, housed with other international students and have the opportunity not only to immerse in a foreign culture, but to do so with students from all over the world.
In an Exchange, you attend a foreign university and a foreign student attends your home university, a student swap for a semester or year. Your university will handle the details of the exchange, you just need to find the ideal foreign university. Hopefully the listings and reviews below can help you down that path. You will need to contact your university's study abroad department or your academic advisor for details on the exchange because the number of valid/active exchange partners may be very limited.

"I learned a lot about the local culture and Australia in general. Also gained the confidence to travel alone and to work through uncomfortable/unfamiliar situations. Very worth it, both the incredible experiences and the more difficult ones."

"I gained independence and insight on other cultures. I gained knowledge by diving into Sevilla and it's traditions and culture. I learned how to travel throughout Europe, which was huge for me because I had never been outside of the United States. I learned the Spanish language and was able to use it with the locals. I gained ov..."

"The experience was worthwhile but if I had to do it again, I would only go for a semester, not the year. "
A student Wellesley College
"My experience was more than worthwhile. I learned so much about the culture and politics of a country caught between Europe and the Middle East. I made lifelong friends and learned how to be more independent and confident in myself. I also discovered my passion for travel and how this was the first of many experiences abroad. "
Nicole B Bates College
"I learned more biochemistry in one year at Oxford than I would have in four years at Middlebury (or any other American university). I learned a lot about the British and made many friends that I hope I'll keep in touch with. It was worthwhile enough that I'm considering coming back to Lincoln for a graduate degree."
William N Middlebury College

"It was definitely worthwhile. I gained a lot of independence and confidence. I got a lot better at meeting new people and making friends with people who are from a different culture than me. A student Wellesley College
"Regarding the above question, if I would choose the same program: While I did not enjoy this program and felt fiercely opposed to this country's policies, I am not sure that I would choose a different program. While perhaps another program would have been less devastating, it would have been so because I wouldn't have been so ex..."

"I think that being abroad reminded me that I live in a very intense bubble that thrives from students overcommitting and thinly stretching themselves to accommodate others. Abroad life helped me to take a step back to see all the different works at play and evaluate what things that I do within my everyday life at my home univer..."
