Direct Enrollment/Exchange is a program provider offering 1872 abroad programs. Programs offered include Study Abroad, Internship, Volunteer, Intensive Language, Gap Year, Graduate Program, High School, Research, Online Program, TEFL Courses, and Adventure Travel abroad programs in 121 countries such as Spain, Costa Rica, Italy, and Ecuador.
Below you will find a directory of foreign universities and reviews from students who participated in an exchange, or in direct enrollment.
In a Direct Enrollment program, students have the option of applying directly to the university they wish to attend abroad. Students can go for either one or two semesters and apply using that university's application process listed for international students. Sometimes these students are called Visiting Students, Guest Students or Free Movers. At the foreign university, they will be supported by the university's office of international students, housed with other international students and have the opportunity not only to immerse in a foreign culture, but to do so with students from all over the world.
In an Exchange, you attend a foreign university and a foreign student attends your home university, a student swap for a semester or year. Your university will handle the details of the exchange, you just need to find the ideal foreign university. Hopefully the listings and reviews below can help you down that path. You will need to contact your university's study abroad department or your academic advisor for details on the exchange because the number of valid/active exchange partners may be very limited.

"Independence and accountability, two virtues that studying abroad gave me"
Sam B Macquarie University
"I learned that living in a different country and speaking a different language nearly 100% of the time is absolutely possible and attainable!"
A student The University of Texas at Austin
"I gained the perspective of a person who has travelled and lived in a different culture. It was completely worthwhile as I was able to experience things I would never normally been given the opportunity to at home. "
A student Western University
"To read and write (all over again) and to appreciate history as an academic discipline."
A student Middlebury College
"I gained what I wanted and hoped to gain: a sense of independence, a broader view of the world, and a stronger feeling of confidence in myself and my abilities. I made good new friends and had a lot of fun traveling with old ones. It was definitely worthwhile. Having said that, I missed my family and friends every day and often ..."
Rachel D Middlebury College
"I learned about a new system of education, differences in culture, and made a lot of friends."

"This experience is priceless. Every UT student needs to invest in an opportunity like this. This experience helped me grow academically and personally. It really helped me see the big picture in my life. I went to Asia alone and I had to learn to live on my own in a vastly different culture. Despite the large student population..."
A student The University of Texas at Austin
"I learned a lot about Europe and its cultural diversity. I also learned how to live and travel in a new country that was very different from the US. "

"My exchange to UEA was one of the best decisions I've ever made, both academically and personally. I met so many amazing people, got the opportunity to travel to so many different places and very much enjoyed all of the courses in which I was enrolled. I learned to become a lot more independent and what it means to be a global ..."

"Experience life in Israel first hand, which is valuable because Israel is in the news so much. Experience a new culture and get some perspective. Also appreciate life in America more :)"
A student University of Miami
"This experience showed me that by delving deeply into new and different things, it is only inevitable to gain a deeper understanding of oneself. I feel as though before my study abroad, I didn't know how to fully learn or to appreciate the way that I do now. I was never able to focus, to take the time to let a book or a painti..."
Andi W Pennsylvania State University - University Park
"I gained so many memorable experiences and friends and I would do it again in a heartbeat. But more than that I felt like the life I had in Haifa was one that I want to emulate when I move back to the states. I was healthy and engaged and appreciative of all the unexpected surprises in my new environment. "
carrie.hildebrandt.7 University of Maryland - College Park

"It's impossible to use words to describe everything I learned while abroad, but I can do my best. First off, I learned how to live independently and share an apartment with other people. I also became a much more savvy traveler, which will help me a lot in the future. More importantly, I learned a lot about myself and what thing..."
A student Illinois State University
"Learning to let go of control and take things as they come. I can't plan everything in my life and not everything will last forever. This experience has taught me to live everyday and not look back. One of the most worthwhile things I've done. "

On a deeper level, I gained tremendous self-confidence from living in a foreign country with a host family that I could never have experienced in the United States."
Alyssa S Villanova University
"Learned a tremendous amount about my personal interests, how to live in a city, and walk long, long distances to save money. It was worthwhile, but not ideal. "
A student Middlebury College
"It was definitely worthwhile moving to Norwich to attend UEA. I loved the cohesiveness and comprehensiveness of the campus and its services, I thought the town was really sweet and I made lots of really good friends. I also gained an appreciation for some aspects of my own uni, and gained independence and confidence in my organi..."
