Direct Enrollment/Exchange is a program provider offering 1872 abroad programs. Programs offered include Study Abroad, Internship, Volunteer, Intensive Language, Gap Year, Graduate Program, High School, Research, Online Program, TEFL Courses, and Adventure Travel abroad programs in 121 countries such as Spain, Venezuela, The United Kingdom, and Ireland.
Below you will find a directory of foreign universities and reviews from students who participated in an exchange, or in direct enrollment.
In a Direct Enrollment program, students have the option of applying directly to the university they wish to attend abroad. Students can go for either one or two semesters and apply using that university's application process listed for international students. Sometimes these students are called Visiting Students, Guest Students or Free Movers. At the foreign university, they will be supported by the university's office of international students, housed with other international students and have the opportunity not only to immerse in a foreign culture, but to do so with students from all over the world.
In an Exchange, you attend a foreign university and a foreign student attends your home university, a student swap for a semester or year. Your university will handle the details of the exchange, you just need to find the ideal foreign university. Hopefully the listings and reviews below can help you down that path. You will need to contact your university's study abroad department or your academic advisor for details on the exchange because the number of valid/active exchange partners may be very limited.
Study Abroad with Direct Enrollment/Exchange
"I think one of the most rewarding things about traveling is meeting people from all over the world. Even being in a study abroad program with people from different parts of the country was eye-opening. I forced to try to communicate in a language I barely knew with people who didn't know my language much better. It was hard, but..."

"Yes. Too in depth/personal to go into. I have much greater appreciation for where I came from. It has changed my whole life plan because now I will be coming back here after college. "

"I loved my ISA experience in Guanajuato. The city's beauty was captivating and the excursions were once in a lifetime opportunities. I miss Guanajuato very much, and plan to go back one of these days. I was satisfied with the teachers and the University. I learned a lot of the Spanish language and came back to the US much mo..."

"Absolutely worthwhile. I have done and tried things that I never thought possible. The location of the UK to other countries was very convenient and allowed me to backpack for a month over spring break. Never had been away from family and friends for so long, definitely challenges you in ways you never expected and makes you a s..."

"My experience was very worthwhile. I still talk with the friends I made. After I finished I was so sad I was leaving that I wanted to extend my time there. My experience has changed my future in that I would like to live abroad and I realize how important it is to experience something else and to go explore. "
Tiffany P Appalachian State University
"This experience was absolutely worthwhile! I learned a lot, I made amazing friends, and had the best 6 weeks of my life. I wish I could go back!"
Laura J University of Arizona
"I learned I can be put in any situation and live with it. Its a lot about being content, not always looking ahead to the future. I also learned I am very sensitive to black mold. It made me realize I can be content in a different lifestyle in which I sit and drink tea with friends and just relax. I still want to go back to Egypt..."

"Being abroad opened my eyes to what the whole world has to offer. It makes you a more well rounded person. I am positive that I will go back one day, and I now want a job that includes international travel. I still have a lot more of the world to see and this experience has influenced me to know that it is possible and I will be..."

"I really learned a lot in the six or so weeks that I was in Ireland. It was great meeting so many new people. The location could not have been better. Everything you could need was within walking distance. This experience made me realize how much I love traveling and immersing myself in other cultures."
Brittany W Louisiana State University - Shreveport
"Yes! I've definitely changed a lot, but in a good way. I understand myself better, and my experiences here have really opened my mind to a lot of new and different things."
Cat Z Wellesley College
"The abroad experience is definitely worthwhile. It gives you a chance to put all you have learned in college thus far (both about yourself and academically) into effect in a different setting. It also gives you new perspective about your home country and college. And, if your lucky, it gives you an opportunity to travel and have..."

"My French is way better. Some of my professors were really excellent (I repeat this because it seems, from talking to other exchange students, that my experience was an anomaly) - I have developed intellectually while here. I also know a lot more about France and Europe which is really neat. I am more culturally aware from spend..."

"It most definitely was! I have so much understanding on how Europe views America and also got so much different prespective on topics such as WWI and WWII. Belgium is such a historical country and so beautifully done, the architecture of the city which very old but has that amazing charm to it and makes the country so special. I..."

"My abroad experience was simply amazing. I loved it so much that I decided to go back to school for a second Masters. I have made friends of a lifetime which was odd when you think of your friends back home. However, being so far away, many of them were not just friends, but family. Because of that I have travelled to many of my..."

"I definitely became more independent and outgoing. I also learned a lot about London and its history as well as the subjects I studied. I think now more then ever I am ready to work anywhere in the U.S. I feel I am now more prepared to work in the real world and am more confident in the way I handle myself professionally. "

"Absolutely! :) It was without a doubt the greatest decision I ever made. I gained phenomenal experience in my field and wouldn't be where I am without it. Scotland will forever have a piece of my heart. LOVED every minute of my study abroad experience and would do it again in a heartbeat! "

"Research was a lot of fun, but I really experienced an uncaring attitude from the student housing. I learned a lot about international development, but most of my classes were not taught well or even orginized. I just learned that the Dutch way of life and community just aren't right for me and my personality. They are not the w..."
