Direct Enrollment/Exchange is a program provider offering 1872 abroad programs. Programs offered include Study Abroad, Internship, Volunteer, Intensive Language, Gap Year, Graduate Program, High School, Research, Online Program, TEFL Courses, and Adventure Travel abroad programs in 121 countries such as Spain, Venezuela, The United Kingdom, and Ireland.
Below you will find a directory of foreign universities and reviews from students who participated in an exchange, or in direct enrollment.
In a Direct Enrollment program, students have the option of applying directly to the university they wish to attend abroad. Students can go for either one or two semesters and apply using that university's application process listed for international students. Sometimes these students are called Visiting Students, Guest Students or Free Movers. At the foreign university, they will be supported by the university's office of international students, housed with other international students and have the opportunity not only to immerse in a foreign culture, but to do so with students from all over the world.
In an Exchange, you attend a foreign university and a foreign student attends your home university, a student swap for a semester or year. Your university will handle the details of the exchange, you just need to find the ideal foreign university. Hopefully the listings and reviews below can help you down that path. You will need to contact your university's study abroad department or your academic advisor for details on the exchange because the number of valid/active exchange partners may be very limited.

"My experience was absolutely worthwhile. I would go again in a minute if allowed the opportunity. History classes in the US don't always cover Spain/Spanish history/Spanish culture very well (apart from financing Columbus and conquering much of Latin America) or talk much, if at all, about Portugal) or how northern Africa infl..."

"I would like to return to France, but stay for a longer time. I am more confident in speaking French. I enjoyed the French lifestyle and would like to incorporate it into my own. "
Mosettee L The University of Texas at Austin
"Absolutely worthwhile. Though it took a few days before I decided I didn't want to transfer to another, more serious program in Israel, it turned out to be an incredible experience. A great chance to party, get cultural exposure, and really learn about life in the region and in Israel. So many opportunities to explore the region..."

"It was a great experience. My knowledge of the language increased immensely through the trip, and would do it all over again if I could! The only thing I'd change would be to go for longer!"
Lindsay M University of Wisconsin - LaCrosse
"Absolutely! Everything, every study, and discipline overlaps and builds upon the successes or failures of the other."
Victoria F Shenandoah University

"The experience was amazing and I would not trade in my time spent there. The city is small but I was never at a loss for things to do and I loved my time there; it has made me pursue the Peace Corps so that I may again experience the adventure of living a culture different from the one I grew up in. I would give my time in Tu..."

"It's an experience I believe every college student should have. It may be costly to do study abroad, but it truly gives one a brand new perspective on education and the lifestyles of another culture. "
Tory C University of California - Irvine
"It was an amazing experience that opened my eyes to really understanding and experiencing another culture. I feel like I became a more mature, adult person who can handle anything life throws at me after living thousands of miles away from my home, my family, and things that are familiar and comfortable. It made me want to exp..."

"Being in Brazil was worthwhile; studying at PUC was a waste of time and money. If I had to do it all over again I would go with a public university."

"Very worth while. It gave me an idea of others culture instead of just my own."
Alex W University of South Alabama
"I want to live in Istanbul for some period of time, coming back to the US was like coming off a sugar high, you have such a continuous rush of energy and excitement and then when it's all over you kind of have a depressed mood because now everything seems boring."
Funda S The University of Texas at Austin
"My study abraod experience was totally worthwhile and i would do it all again in a heartbeat. i realized to take chances and to do everything and anything when you can and have the opportunity because one never knows when one can have another chance to. if i could go back i would have done more and risk the mistakes. "
Nicole K University of Hawaii - Manoa
"I cannot put into words how much studying/living abroad changed my life entirely. I am a science major, but found a new passion for world politics, Middle East culture and languages while I was abroad. I had always traveled abroad before living abroad, but there is no comparison. Living abroad provides experiences and outlook..."

"It made me aware that I was looking for something in Chile that had very little to do with its reality, more to do with my stereotype of an unknown country."
Wiley J The University of Texas at Austin
"The overall experience was fantastic. I wouldn't trade it for the world. I had a blast. My academic interests are mostly the same, I will start focusing more on German, to get a minor, but my major is still the same. My future plans have changed. I am now determined to return to Germany to live and work for a few years. After sp..."

"Of course it was worthwhile, although I think it could be much more accessible financially if it were not a GEL program. While it was nice to have the travel arrangements made for us and to have a faculty leader in the airport arriving in Argentina, this could be done away with and everything be far less expensive. The $1500 m..."

"My semester in Graz was easily, without a doubt, the best experience of my life thus far. I learned so much about myself and about other cultures, and I grew up in so many good ways. My German improved tremendously, and I sincerely believe I am a different person from when I left--but in the best possible way. I made so many inc..."

"Yes, it was totally worthwhile. I think I learned a lot more about myself and my parents' culture and it made me thankful to have had such great opportunities in the States. "
Suyun H The University of Texas at Austin
"Going to Spain was definitely one of the best things I did while in college. It opened my eyes to so many things and helped me to have a different perspective on life. It's interesting to grow up in one culture and then live somewhere else and really adapt to their way of life. I would do it again if I ever had the chance. After..."
