Direct Enrollment/Exchange is a program provider offering 1872 abroad programs. Programs offered include Study Abroad, Internship, Volunteer, Intensive Language, Gap Year, Graduate Program, High School, Research, Online Program, TEFL Courses, and Adventure Travel abroad programs in 121 countries such as Spain, Venezuela, The United Kingdom, and Ireland.
Below you will find a directory of foreign universities and reviews from students who participated in an exchange, or in direct enrollment.
In a Direct Enrollment program, students have the option of applying directly to the university they wish to attend abroad. Students can go for either one or two semesters and apply using that university's application process listed for international students. Sometimes these students are called Visiting Students, Guest Students or Free Movers. At the foreign university, they will be supported by the university's office of international students, housed with other international students and have the opportunity not only to immerse in a foreign culture, but to do so with students from all over the world.
In an Exchange, you attend a foreign university and a foreign student attends your home university, a student swap for a semester or year. Your university will handle the details of the exchange, you just need to find the ideal foreign university. Hopefully the listings and reviews below can help you down that path. You will need to contact your university's study abroad department or your academic advisor for details on the exchange because the number of valid/active exchange partners may be very limited.

"I got to connect with people from all over the world and got to see Europe for the first time in my life. I got to go to a large university in a metropolitan setting, and had a chance to essentially be a first-year again and see the process with a new set of eyes and take classes with graduate students on a topic I would not hav..."

"You HAVE to advocate for yourself when something doesn't feel right for you. Even though my experience in the school was not the best, I learned that I will have to initiate conversation in order to get anything done. "
A student The University of Texas at Austin
"One of the biggest things I gained from my experience was confidence in my own abilities. Prior to this program, I had flown once in my life and had never traveled solo. Once in Ireland, I knew it was up to me to make this experience what I wanted it to be or to simply follow the dreams of those around me. I chose to pursue my d..."

"I learned how to be independent and travel on my own. It was not worthwhile at all. I did not enjoy my semester there and wish I didn't go. I think Middlebury has this culture where everyone is pushed to study abroad because "you will regret it if you don't" but honestly it's hard for me to believe everyone loves it that much. I..."

"It almost felt like I was living another reality. Everything was new and different, some bad and some good, but I definitely gained a sense of clarity of what I wanted from life and the future. The time abroad gave me time to do some reflection, almost like a semester-long meditation, so it was very much worth my time. "
A student Wellesley College
"I gained independence and confidence mostly because I learned that I was capable of so much more. I flew half-way around the world without anyone and set-up my apartment all on my own. It taught my I'm capable of much more than I originally believed."

"This experience taught me that I’m more resilient than I thought and that I can roll with many, many punches. It was transformative, but not in the ways I had expected or hoped for. I return with a newfound appreciation for the US and for Middlebury. "
A student Middlebury College
"I feel I am much more confident as a learner and general person. I lived far away from anyone else so I had to get comfortable doing my own thing and speaking Spanish with strangers. "
