Direct Enrollment/Exchange is a program provider offering 1872 abroad programs. Programs offered include Study Abroad, Internship, Volunteer, Intensive Language, Gap Year, Graduate Program, High School, Research, Online Program, TEFL Courses, and Adventure Travel abroad programs in 121 countries such as Spain, Venezuela, The United Kingdom, and Ireland.
Below you will find a directory of foreign universities and reviews from students who participated in an exchange, or in direct enrollment.
In a Direct Enrollment program, students have the option of applying directly to the university they wish to attend abroad. Students can go for either one or two semesters and apply using that university's application process listed for international students. Sometimes these students are called Visiting Students, Guest Students or Free Movers. At the foreign university, they will be supported by the university's office of international students, housed with other international students and have the opportunity not only to immerse in a foreign culture, but to do so with students from all over the world.
In an Exchange, you attend a foreign university and a foreign student attends your home university, a student swap for a semester or year. Your university will handle the details of the exchange, you just need to find the ideal foreign university. Hopefully the listings and reviews below can help you down that path. You will need to contact your university's study abroad department or your academic advisor for details on the exchange because the number of valid/active exchange partners may be very limited.

"Definitely worthwhile! I think it's really important to push yourself and try something new while at university. Oxford provides that international experience without having to give anything up on academics. It was also really freeing not being at Wellesley for a semester and just taking in different things and life experiences...."

"Definitely worthwhile. I learned what it's like to actually be responsible for cooking for myself. I learned to avoid WizzAir (AVOID WIZZAIR!!!) and that RyanAir isn't as strict about its baggage size limits as it pretends to be. I traveled internationally by myself, navigated public transport in all sorts of languages, learned ..."

"It was definitely worthwhile. I've made a few friends abroad, had the opportunity to travel to four other countries, and made more Wellesley friendships I intend to continue fostering at my home institution. My experience was too short to be completely immersive—I wish I had the option to extend it for one more term (rather than..."

"This program is incredibly rigorous, and as a result I grew as an academic scholar. The supervision system and close one-on-one interactions I experienced with my supervisors strengthened my writing and research skills, which will prove useful for my senior thesis. Although this program does not provide quite as much freedom to ..."

"Going abroad was definitely worthwhile. I think the timing, personally, could have been better given events that were out of control, but I really liked being able to learn about a new city, explore it, and learn, really, more about myself. "
A student Wellesley College
"My experience was absolutely worthwhile. I learned a lot about myself as a person and a traveler - especially how I handle being alone. Living in an single for the first time and doing a bit of solo travel meant that I had a lot of time by myself. "

"I learned a lot about Irish history that most Americans would not know about and how that affected the people. And I saw how the Irish nation's growth affected Theatre as an art form reflecting of specific times. I gained new insights through my international house mates and Irish classmates that has positively expanded my under..."

"I did learn a lot about British culture during this program. And having Oxford on your resume certainly doesn't hurt. I'm glad I went just to have had the experience of studying in a different country, even though I didn't love it. "
A student Wellesley College
"I learned how to properly cook for myself, and how to navigate new urban territory with an open mind. It was absolutely worthwhile to me. "
Kayli Balin Wellesley College
"I learned to appreciate my home school and the organization it has. This school had a terrible registration process for classes. My classes took weeks to be finalized and I frequently had to see the administration in person. At the end of the semester the administration lost my final (and only) exam but I was lucky enough that I..."
