Direct Enrollment/Exchange is a program provider offering 1872 abroad programs. Programs offered include Study Abroad, Internship, Volunteer, Intensive Language, Gap Year, Graduate Program, High School, Research, Online Program, TEFL Courses, and Adventure Travel abroad programs in 121 countries such as Spain, Venezuela, Belgium, and International Summer Schools.
Below you will find a directory of foreign universities and reviews from students who participated in an exchange, or in direct enrollment.
In a Direct Enrollment program, students have the option of applying directly to the university they wish to attend abroad. Students can go for either one or two semesters and apply using that university's application process listed for international students. Sometimes these students are called Visiting Students, Guest Students or Free Movers. At the foreign university, they will be supported by the university's office of international students, housed with other international students and have the opportunity not only to immerse in a foreign culture, but to do so with students from all over the world.
In an Exchange, you attend a foreign university and a foreign student attends your home university, a student swap for a semester or year. Your university will handle the details of the exchange, you just need to find the ideal foreign university. Hopefully the listings and reviews below can help you down that path. You will need to contact your university's study abroad department or your academic advisor for details on the exchange because the number of valid/active exchange partners may be very limited.

"As mentioned above, I gained incredible friends and traveling experiences. It was definitely worthwhile. "

"I achieved a work-life balance which had so far been elusive at my U.S. university :) I was learning so, so much, yet I was not constantly stressed. I met so many lovely, lovely people whom I know I will keep in touch with. I learned so much! The tutorial system and the greater specialization that exists at Oxford (arguabl..."

"I gained and enhanced many skills. The tutorial system teaches you how to better manage your time as there is only one or two contact hours per week. I also enhanced by communication skills through engaging in one-on-one discussions with tutors where I advocated for my ideas. I also had the opportunity to grow and discover a new..."

"I think that I met a lot of great friends, local and international. I got to experience living independently in a new country, and explore the beauty of Scotland via bus, train, and bike. Continuing my academic path in a different cultural setting was worthwhile in looking at my studies with a different lens and optimism. "
Annalise J Middlebury College

"My experience abroad was definitely worthwhile, but it also was not without its challenges. I found it difficult to meet people, especially to meet and stay in touch with local students. That being said, I improved my skills in doing things by myself and was able to explore the city and get to know London on my own. I was really..."

"Even though I did not the university at all, I truly did love Amsterdam. Being at the VU was still a good experience because it made me more thankful for my home institution; nice to know I made the right decision at 18! I also developed a passion for biking and I loved exploring the Netherlands and the surrounding countries!..."

"My experience was worthwhile, and it was an amazing experience to live in another country. I got to learn about the history and culture of the Netherlands. Additionally, the Netherlands has so many great museums, so if you buy a Museumkaart (museum pass), you have unlimited access to hundreds of museums across the country!"
A student Wellesley College
"I enjoyed the opportunity to feel more integrated into life in a new city, especially living in Hotel Jansen (a short-medium stay 'hotel'), we shopped for groceries in the local neighborhood and biked to class and into the city center regularly. Being in a different environment took some adjustment, but I am pleased with my expe..."

"I always wanted to visit Amsterdam, and it was a really great city and the Netherlands is a really great country to live in for a few months. There is so much to do and see and so many museums to visit. I learned a lot of independence. I loved having my bike. I missed Wellesley a lot, but honestly I think that being away from it..."

"Because I had to pay for many fees out of pocket and arrange housing, insurance, phone bills, residency cards on my own, I learned more about how to manage myself in the adult world. Although the experience was difficult at many times, it was worthwhile."

"My junior year abroad has been the most exhilarating and growing experience. Extending my stay at Oxford for the full year was the best decision I made. I tried out boxing, blind wine tasting, rowing, went to a million balls and formals. I learned about friendship and how to cook and to be independent. I traveled during the brea..."

"I learned that schoolwork, although important, isn't the main determining factor of a good semester of college experience. I learned how to balance my time between personal responsibilities and things I genuinely wanted to do and experience. I feel like I learned to not take myself too seriously and live in the present.
