Study Abroad with DIS - Study Abroad
"Living in Copenhagen for several months is definitely worthwhile! You learn the meaning of a welfare state, and pick some healthy habits such as biking and walking everywhere and in every weather condition."
A student Brandeis University
"This was the most forming semester I've had. I learned a lot about myself and what is important to me. I know I want to pursue a career in medicine now, so yes, definitely worthwhile. "
Katherine L Brandeis University
"I gained a greater understanding of what I care about and who I am as a person. I feel more confident in my identity and my beliefs after getting to know so many people, and live in a country where the beliefs I am typically surrounded by are absent!"
Arianna P Brandeis University
"I learned a lot about myself and seeing myself as a student and as a social person. I learned a little bit of balance between the two."
Justin B Brandeis University
"It was worthwhile but there are some things I would have done differently. "
A student Brandeis University
"I learned so much academically--I want to pursue a career in clinical psychology but most of the psychology courses at Brandeis aren't clinically focused, so I really enjoyed my classes at DIS. The learning is hands on and experiential and I felt like I learned more about careers and the "real world" while abroad that at my home..."
Sophie B Brandeis University
"I learned how to take care of myself and how to be more independent. "
Abby K Brandeis University
"The past four months in Denmark have truly exposed me to another culture in addition to allowing me to become more independent as an individual. The first weeks were full of adjustment as I gradually got acclimated to the country and the particular way Danes approached life. Through my experience, I have come to truly appreciate..."
A student Brandeis University
"Totally worthwhile, learned so much about myself and international life "
Jacqueline M Providence College
"I love to travel, I am extremely capable when completely on my own and work well when completely independent."
A student Wellesley College
"Everything. I learned so much in all aspects and yes it was worthwhile!"
Laura D Saint Michael's College
"It was definitely worth it! I was only supposed to stay a semester but I ended up staying the year."
A student Wellesley College
"Apart from the excellent courses, I learned a lot about myself, which I think is what made it worthwhile. My biggest challenge surprisingly was maintaining a social life, because I didn't meet anyone from my cultural or religious background who enjoyed doing the same things for leisure as me - I don't like to drink and party, wh..."
A student Wellesley College
"I gained experience living in a city environment, and visiting a European country--two things that were very new to me. I also was able to get a glimpse of worldviews other than those shared by Americans."
A student Middlebury College
"I learned a lot about myself and a lot about the cultural environment abroad "
A student Wellesley College
"First and foremost, I learned how to be a self-starter. Your study abroad experience--such as how many new people you meet, how many places you travel to, and how much you learn about a new culture--is dependent on how proactive you are. While studying abroad fine-tuned my ability to live independently, I more greatly value my k..."
A student Barnard College
"I learned a lot about myself and my personality. My classes were interesting and thought provoking and often very relevant to my situations. "
A student Trinity University
"I learned to live independently and navigate life without the help from my parents. "
A student Brandeis University
"I learned about Denmark's history and culture from the people who know it best and I also learned how to be more independent and confident in myself and my ability to navigate new situations. Studying Abroad was definitely a worthwhile experience."
Jordan S Wellesley College
"1) I learned that my personal well being should be a high priority in my life. 2) Enforcing top-down policies is effective for city strategies. 3) Big isn't always better. Study abroad was super worthwhile! I respect the city and the people so much. I am trying so hard to go back"
A student Wellesley College
"I personally, culturally, and academically grew during my time abroad. I was given another perspective on life and was able to take myself out of my American context. I wish I was still abroad!"
A student Middlebury College
"I really enjoyed my experience in Copenhagen. My host family was amazing, and I made some great friends at DIS, all of whom I keep in touch with. I learned a lot, and appreciated being able to take mostly design classes, some of which I would have not had the opportunity to take otherwise. Overall, studying abroad is an exciting..."
A student Middlebury College
"I gained a new perspective on the world, and I cultivated a passion for travel. This program enabled me to meet Danes and students from other schools around the US. I was able to learn about the Danish culture and reflect on what my culture means to me as a Polish-American. I have now had a taste of what it is like to live in Eu..."
Caroline B Wellesley College
"I loved living in Denmark. I definitely see my home and life in the US from a different perspective after being abroad. I would love to do it again but would prefer a program with more integration."
A student Middlebury College
"Iintercultural communication, planning and management of time and money"
