"It's hard to sum up in a tiny box what I learned from my experience abroad because I honestly learned more than words could say. Living with a Danish host family was the highlight of my experience. They taught me so much about not only their culture, but also about my own culture and background. My host family welcomed me with o..."

"Studying abroad in Copenhagen was amazing. Copenhagen really is the best city--everyone who goes loves it. I would not change a thing. You gain whole new cultural lens. Living in a socialist state gives you a new outlook on the world. It's all invaluable; I loved it."

"I learned more about what I want from my life. I grew in independence and in world experience. Most people are inherently good, nothing teaches that like having to ask a million people for directions."
A student Brandeis University
"I learned to be less shy and more outgoing. I learned that while it is very important to do well in school, it is also important to create hobbies and make friends with people who share the same interests. I learned to travel and be financially responsible for myself. "

"The short version is that, yes, it was definitely worthwhile! I loved my weekly practicum at a local school in classrooms of 6th and 9th graders. Since that particular school was one in an area heavily populated by non-ethnically Danish people (i.e. families with origins in such places as Turkey and Pakistan), I had a really..."

"My time abroad in Denmark taught me a lot about what I'm capable of, instilling in me a new self-awareness and confidence. I learned a lot about Scandinavian/European culture and politics, giving me insight as to how the supposedly "happiest" people in the world live, clarifying the wonderful and problematic things about my own ..."

"Cultural immersion in Europe"
A student Brandeis University
"From an environmental studies major, I learned an incredible amount living in one of the greenest cities in the world for just a semester. Not only in classes, but even in daily life. It was very worthwhile to live like a Dane because they really know what they are doing to protect the environment in Denmark! "

"I learned a lot by traveling independently and living somewhere where English wasn't the first language. I loved my experience and made some lifelong friends but, personally, I don't know if it was as much of an immersion experience as I wanted. Denmark is safe, trendy, progressive and fascinating but in my opinion, it was a saf..."

"I became more independent. I couldn't always rely on others. I made it a point to step out of my comfort zone and I made great friends and have amazing experiences because of it. I highly highly recommend DIS for studying abroad! "
A student Barnard College
"I learned how to interact with other culture different from mine. Also, I learned how to utilize public transportation by myself (I'm from Texas, so this was a big deal). This experience made me more independent, self-reliant, and confident. I wouldn't change a thing about my experience and absolutely think it was worthwhile. I ..."
