Everything we do is about the IES Abroad student.
Created in 1950, we believe in crafting unforgettable, life-changing educational adventures that go beyond our students' expectations. Every year about 6,500 study abroad students choose IES Abroad for their authentic study and intern abroad experience.
Our work starta in our Chicago headquarters and spreads across more than 130 study abroad programs in more than 30+ locations worldwide. With this network, we develop authentic global education and life-affirming cultural experiences. We believe that studying abroad should be a part of every student's academic life, and we aim to not only provide study abroad opportunities, but to consistently maintain a friendly, fun, and safe academic and cultural environment.
We believe so firmly in the power of our academically superior programs, that we actively recruit students from diverse populations and pledges more than $5 million in scholarships year after year. We are proud that our students are as diverse and exciting as the countries we study.
Through IES Internships, we offer a variety of full-time semester and summer internships in 15 locations around the world. For more than 40 years, we've provided opportunities to intern in some of the world's most exciting cities. With IES Internships, you'll have a guaranteed placement, more on-the-job hours, dedicated assistance with résumés and interviewing skills, and the ability to network with other students.
How will study abroad redefine you? We can't wait to find out.

"I learned so many life lessons through the UK Today program and have found a better sense of who I am as a person. Both of the classes I took met in specific locations in the city, such as the National Portrait Gallery or the Royal Naval College in Greenwich, and required lots of walking and picture taking (two things I throughl..."

"This was probably the one of the best decisions I've made about how to spend my summer. I've always wanted to visit France and learn the culture by living there and this was my dream come true. My host family was awesome. I lived with a mom with two children. She was extremely nice and spoke slowly to me at first so that I ca..."

"My semester in Paris would not have been nearly half as great as it was if I had not studied with IES Abroad. As my time in France came to a finish in May 2014, and as my departure crept closer and closer, I truly realized how lucky I was that I had picked an IES program. There was not a single component of IES’s structure that ..."

"I can now truthfully say I speak French. I have a much deeper understanding of French culture. My worldview has widened. I am more confident abroad, and in new situations in general. I'm more comfortable with not knowing something and asking others to explain it. That's only the tip of the iceberg: it was totally worthwhile."

"I learned how to be flexible and adapt to a different environment and be okay with messing up speaking a foreign language. It forced me to step out of my comfort zone and speak with people fluent in the language and also try new things such as eating snails! It was absolutely worthwhile."

"I had an AMAZING experience with IES Abroad Rome. It seriously was life changing and I became such a stronger and more independent person because of it. "In certain aspects I learned more in one semester abroad than I did in the other seven at my home learning university. Thanks to their culture I came home with a new appreciation for the life I am so privileged to live and even desire to change my career path to a more community-oriented profession. I can't emphasize how many re..."
