A student University of Southern Indiana
"A whole new perspective on the world, especially the business environment which my courses focused on. An absolutely worthwhile part of my academic career."
A student Truman State University
"I think I learned a lot about myself as a person because i was put into a foreign country without anyone I knew. It really tested my ability to adapt but it also let me learn new and exciting things about myself. I would definitely describe it as a worthwhile experience. I had the time of my life. "
A student Wellesley College
"I learned not only how to interact with those in other cultures, but new things about my major, the friends I made, and who I am as a person. "
Anna Upper Iowa University

Joely Gause University of Southern Indiana
"I learned about myself, French culture, and the world. I had classes with students from around the world, hearing about their countries and experiences was fascinating. "
Mikaela Mercer University of Southern Indiana
"What I learned most came from outside of the classroom. I was one of only about 12 other Americans at Radboud, which made the experience that much more valuable. Having never really seen the world from a different point of view than that of the average American, my experience opened up my view of the world like nothing else coul..."
Andrew Thomas Emporia State University
"Different classes size and educational system"
A student Dominican University of California
"I learned a lot about the Japanese and their culture. I learned about new skills and strengths I did know about or thought I didn't have. The experience was one I will remember and never regret."
Anna McCarty University of Southern Indiana
"It was definitely worthwhile. First and foremost, I learned how to survive in a language which I didn't know. This developed my cultural sensitivity and communication skills. In addition, planning and leading trips all across Europe sharpened my leadership skills. I also developed more individuality and a sense of self, all very..."
Kory Ford Truman State University
"I learned so much about different cultures, and I felt such freedom and lack of judgement for who I wanted to be as a person because no one there knew me before. It was so worthwhile, and I would love to go again, to Finland or another country."
A student Truman State University
"Definitely worthwhile. I learned a lot about the world, Argentina, and the United States. I learned even more about myself and what interests me."
Alex Holzum Truman State University
"I learned to be independent. I learned how to travel and make friends, and I became nearly-fluent in Spanish. I learned the importance of going with the flow and discovered a love for translation and eating Galician octopus. It was absolutely worthwhile."
A student Truman State University
"In spite of my answer of no to choosing this program again, I believe it was worthwhile. I gained some definite communication skills, having to correspond with many people to straighten things out (which certainly furthered my French), I gained organizational skills and "
Celine Fuchs Truman State University
"I gained independence, I learned how to "go with the flow" and realize that about 5% of the things I planned went according to plan. The rest was just up in the air, and honestly, ended better than I ever could have imagined."
A student Indiana University - Purdue University Fort Wayne / IPFW
"It was worthwhile."
Brianna Cermak Truman State University
"I learned how to be more self-reliant and independent, in both personal and practical ways. For example, Germans taught me how to drive a stick-shift, I learned to changed a bike tire, and to cook for myself. I will return to the US (for the time-being!) a much more well-rounded and happier person. "
A student Truman State University
"I feel like a much more capable adult. From doing paperwork to handling travel details I handled a lot of stuff that normally makes me nervous. I mean, I'm still nervous about doing such things but I have the experience and I draw confidence from my real world experience. I feel much more confident interacting with strangers as ..."
Tricia Pelkington Indiana University - Purdue University Fort Wayne / IPFW
"I learned how other countries do things differently and how people view Americans. It was very worthwhile!"

"I learned a lot about myself and how to be independent. I learned how to live on the opposite side of the world alone without anyone to fall back on. I learned to make new friends of different cultures and how to live in a big city. It was definitely worthwhile. "
Brittany Schrink University of Southern Indiana
"Improved spanish skills, gained independence "
A student Truman State University
"The breadth of international student backgrounds was something that I found to be interesting. That is to say, I was shocked to find out that so many other international students could be so much better prepared for immersion in another culture than myself. I learned that having an American passport does not necessarily make me ..."
drake p Indiana University - Purdue University Fort Wayne / IPFW
"It's hard to quantify. Studying abroad is exhausting. It makes you grow as a person because you have to change your entire perspective in order to attempt to understand the culture."
Baxter Richardson Millsaps College
"I gained a new knowledge on how to interact with several people outside my personal culture. And I gained a skill of true independence. I had to cook for myself, book hostels and travel by myself, set up doctor appointments, and figure out new customs with no help. I left this experience with an extreme confidence boost in my ow..."
