Middlebury Schools Abroad is a program provider offering 32 abroad programs. Programs offered include Study Abroad and Intensive Language abroad programs in 18 countries such as Chile, The United Kingdom, United States, and Jordan.
Participants in the Middlebury C.V. Starr Schools Abroad don’t just study a language—they live it.
Many of our students major in disciplines other than foreign languages, yet all bring a level of proficiency that supports their commitment to language and cultural immersion. They sign and honor the Middlebury Language Pledge because they want the greatest possible challenge in a study abroad program and an authentic experience in every respect; academic, social, and even professional.
Participants take courses in most subjects, often with host country students, intern or engage in volunteer work, and live with a family or local students. Indeed, at every juncture of their time abroad, students have the chance to "live the language" and immerse themselves in the host culture.
Middlebury also offers intensive summer immersion programs in ten languages, as well as graduate programs in eight of these languages. For graduate studies, visit http://www.middlebury.edu/ls/grad_programs/ and for Language Schools, visit http://www.middlebury.edu/ls/.

"Yes, I've learned a lot about my own process but also got a glimpse at what being an academic would look like."

"Learning about Japan, the good and the bad was super worthwhile. Exploring nature in Japan and learning about how Japan does food was super fun. Even small interactions had a lot to teach on how different the world can be. The most important lesson I learned however was how to live there. That is to say, Tokyo and most Japanese ..."

"I would say more confidence to speak in English. I was very timid in Spanish due to my language ability."
A student Middlebury College
"I feel that I learned a lot, I got to live in a foreign country on my own, I got to travel, I met a lot of different people. It was worthwhile, though I wonder if it would have been better to only do a semester instead of two since the second felt very repetitive."
A student Middlebury College

A student Middlebury College
"It was very challenging in many ways, but I have really learned out to advocate for myself, even in a second language (In host family settings and in hospital settings). A student Middlebury College
"Language skills, great friends, good experiences, and a lot of time alone."
A student Middlebury College
"The most valuable thing I learned from this semester is that education is not only for young people. This might sound naive but I had never met anyone who took classes while working before this semester and it was great to be in the same classes as those who've already had work experiences. They had a lot to offer in the class l..."
A student Middlebury College
"I learned more than I have at Middlebury. The tutorial system is something to experience. It's far better than lectures or seminars and even though I entails long hours in the library. The location is top notch. Oxford is an iconic place with a surprising amount of geographic variety and is a short train ride into central London..."
