"I learned even more about how to live on my own/with friends and come up with routines to keep myself learning and happy. I feel way more prepared for life after college as a result. On top of that, I learned a ton about the politics and cultures of the areas we visited, and how climate change will impact those areas."
A student Bowdoin College
"I significantly improved my writing and research abilities, making it extremely worthwhile in for my future academic work and desired career field. "
Ariel Murray Smith College
"I greatly enjoyed my experience with SIT Nepal. It is hard to summarize an experience that proved so humbling, beautiful, and warm in a few words. I would highly suggest this program to anyone who is looking to challenge themselves, has a good degree of humility, and is easygoing. The staff of SIT NPT are exceptionally kind, tho..."
Rachel Washington University in St. Louis
"The SIT Nepal: Tibetan and Himalayan Peoples study abroad program was a remarkable highlight of my time in university. Through a refreshing taste of experiential learning, we engaged with communities across Nepal in productive, meaningful ways. Learning in the field instead of the classroom inspired us all to be more invested in..."
Jona Block University of Colorado - Boulder
"I gained a whole new understanding of people, development, and education. I also gained an amazing group of friends who were always willing to have those super deep and difficult conversations about everything we encountered abroad. "
Kindra H University of Evansville
"I gained a new way of looking at the world through this program; the cultural immersion experience helped me understand what daily life is like in a low-income country, while stereotypical perceptions of Africa as being only known for poverty and violence"

"My experience in Madagascar was truly incredible. The orientation portion really prepares you for integrating with your homestay families, and the subject matter of the courses challenges you in a new and unique way. You get to explore three very different areas of the island country, from Tana to Morondava, and all three have s..."
Lyric Kleber University of Michigan - Ann Arbor
"Family, and I gained new perspective on life and future. Totally worthwhile."

"I was hesitant about going to Vietnam, but I LOVED it! I felt like I learned so much and the SIT staff was so valuable in helping me to acclimate and build community and experience Vietnam. I could not recommend this program more, and the four months I spent there were some of the best of my life. I felt like I learned and exper..."
A student Vanderbilt University
"I learned about a culture completely different than my own, a difficult (but rewarding) language, how people my age think about their society and fill their free time, and how our perception of Vietnam (especially regarding the Vietnam War) is biased and based on stereotypes that do not represent the Vietnamese people. "
Alexandria Cahill George Washington University
"I learned about Peruvian culture and I do feel like it was a good experience to live in a foreign country"
A student Middlebury College
"I really cannot summarize what I gained and learned while in Jordan in just a paragraph. What I can say, though, is that I left the country being a different person. The insight I earned on countless topics, the invaluable cultural interactions, the experience of being immersed in such a particular country... It was definitely w..."
Raul T Rollins College
"Language, independence, confidence etc. All worth it! "
A student Occidental College
"I learned that it’s important to appreciate the place where you are. Sometimes we don’t realize that maybe we won’t be back to the place we grew so much, so we have to live every moment as it were the last. I also learn that every culture has its own flavor, and even though some practices aren’t understood, we have to respect t..."
Ashley Viteri Knox College
"I learned a lot about going with the flow. It was hard as a bit of a control freak to come to the terms with the fact that most everything was not going to be 100% on my terms and that there was going to be some form of compromise involved. The friendships I made with fellow students on my program, laughing at these uncontrollab..."
Samantha Hoinville Brandeis University
"I learned a lot about climate change -- which was intense, but I'm really glad I know the things I know now. I feel like a really changed person as a result of the things I learned and the people I met."
A student Smith College
"I am now more comfortable in who I am as a person. I learned what my goals are and I was able to do this abroad because of the lack of experience and comfort many have in a foreign place. I had to really reflect and evaluate what I wanted to put out into the world and this opportunity encouraged me to do that. "
Emily P Bates College
"It made me really appreciate home, and I don’t know if I needed to go to Ecuador to do that. "
A student Middlebury College
"I learned more Arabic and got to experience Tunisian culture, which has aspects of Arab culture and French culture combined. This was very worthwhile and I don't regret my decision."
Peter H Wheaton College, MA
