The Swedish Program is a program provider offering 1 abroad program. Programs offered include Study Abroad abroad programs in 1 country such as Sweden.
The Swedish Program at the Stockholm School of Economics (SSE) is a highly regarded study abroad program, offering a full range of liberal arts courses in English. Founded in 1987, we are a small program (enrolling between 40- 50 students each semester) within a prestigious international university. We are committed to providing our students with both a challenging academic and rewarding cultural experience. Classes are small, collaborative, and based in student participation. What students learn in the classroom is relevant to their everyday cultural experiences. Students have opportunities to meet and interact with Swedes at SSE through our housing options and through the Contact Family. The challenge of studying abroad is to learn about the institutions and people of a different culture as you gain a better understanding of yourself and your own country. The distinctive features of the Program – our curricular breadth, high academic standards, commitment to cultural integration, university setting, and small size – effectively promote this multifaceted learning experience.

"Living or being a student in a city is very different from the experience at a classically liberal arts college in many aspects, and it was worthwhile for me to experience that, especially since the Program/administration made the transition as comfortable as possible. Learning about a different society (and thus the US in compa..."

"My abroad experience was one that I'll fondly remember for my entire life. I learned that I could be comfortable living in not only a large city, but a large city in a foreign country. Stockholm was one of the most beuatiful cities I've seen, both visually and culturally, and I hope I can one day live there as an adult."

"It was worthwhile. Getting to take classes about the US healthcare and justice system from a welfare state perspective was shocking and worthwhile. Living in an egalitarian society has also completely reshaped the way I will allow myself to be treated in the US. We have a lot to learn. A lot. "

"I learned that host families can be pretty hard to handle. Three different students on my program had to leave their host families because of various reasons. I was glad I chose an apartment. "

"Going abroad to Sweden was one of the best experiences of my life. The Swedish Program is a bit unorganized and not taking classes with Swedish students made it difficult to make close Swedish friends. Nevertheless, besides these few faults, I had the time of my life. For the most part, my professors were great, helpful, and int..."

"The program gave us a taste of a very independent lifestyle. The program coordinators are available and always willing to help, but for the most part your life and schedule are completely up to you. As I mentioned previously, the flexible and lenient academic system affords you a large amount of free time. Not to mention that..."
