University of Connecticut / UCONN is a program provider offering 20 abroad programs. Programs offered include Study Abroad, Internship, and Intensive Language abroad programs in 9 countries such as Italy, France, The United Kingdom, and Spain.
Education Abroad opportunities at the University of Connecticut are experiential global learning programs, which are integral components of life-transformative undergraduate and graduate curricula. Designed by faculty, practitioners, and community leaders, these programs provide students with collaborative opportunities to learn and practice knowledge and critical understanding, skills, values, and attitudes on intercultural competencies in a global context, whether they are delivered virtually, locally or internationally.
If you are not a student at the University of Connecticut, you are welcome to apply to a number of our programs. Most UConn faculty led programs are open to non-UConn students, e.g. UConn in Granada, UConn Pharmacy in Beijing. Check the individual program brochure on our website to see if the program you are interested is open to non-UConn participants. Unfortunately, our exchange programs and approved third party programs are not open to non-UConn students.

"I learned a lot about myself and new cultures. Loved every second of it! "
A student University of Connecticut
"Learned a lot. "
Heather S University of Connecticut
"I learned how to live on my own and adapt to a new culture. It was really hard and I had times when I just wanted to go home, but it was an experience that I won't forget."
A student University of Connecticut
"Worthwhile? The word seems small in comparison. I believe the person that I am now is a direct result of my time abroad. It is that experience that drew the line in the sand between the old irresponsible, scared me to the woman who is now ready to take on the world (literally). If you are reading this then please understand that..."
Yaquelin S University of Connecticut
"I learned a lot about neuroscience at the graduate and international level as well as gained a greater appreciation of Spanish culture. It was a very worthwhile experience"
chase.moon1 University of Pittsburgh - Pittsburgh
"Excellent program. If you're looking for a great place to live for 5 weeks, Salamanca is the place. If you're looking for an extremely interesting and well laid out course, Neurobiology of Hearing is the course. Sure, you might have to do a little more work than other study abroad courses (i.e. you actually have to do work), but..."
Ryan R University of Pittsburgh - Pittsburgh

"I learned how to navigate unfamiliar places and to travel on a budget. It was very worthwhile and I would travel Spain again. Even though I was a senior, I went to this study abroad because I love learning about neuroscience. We were able to see some amazing facilities of research and learn a plethora about drugs. Traveling was ..."
Reed K Purdue University
"It was so worthwhile. I gained friends, a larger understanding of the world and a different country. I learned to live a different life and learned how to navigate on my own so far from home. I learned about the land and people and how we should appreciate at home what we have and how much we have since most people lived so simp..."
Antonia B University of Connecticut

A student University of Connecticut
"I learned independence, how to get along with different people, and a lot about the world outside of the U.S. There is a lot to see and so many different cultures and I have gained a thirst to experience new things."
A student University of Connecticut
"I learned a lot about myself, and an enormous amount of French. It was a worthwhile experience, and I'm glad I went, but 20/20 hindsight, I would not pick the same program. "
A student University of Connecticut
"I was able to see history up-close. I had easy access to museums, monuments, and historic sites"
A student University of Connecticut
"I learned to take chances and not be shy. I learned to make new friends and just go with the flow. I learned how to travel by myself (through in organization of course). Of course it was worth it. "
Elisha B University of Connecticut
"It wasn't worth the money. I did enjoy the grammar classes which advanced my language skills. But overall I expected more. "
A student University of Connecticut
"Gained a lot of knowledge about neuroscience. It was 1000000% worthwhile."
Alexandra I University of Connecticut
"I made a ton of new friends in neuroscience, which was valuable to me because my university has a pretty small program. I also got very self-sufficient and was able to travel under many different conditions. I became less self-conscious about my Spanish skills as we went on, which helped me to learn more. I also gained a lot ..."
A student University of Connecticut
"I was able to understand how to live in a big city, how to make my own decisions. "
wayne.harrell.98 University of Connecticut
"It was honestly the best 4 months of my life."
Laura C University of Connecticut
"You gain Independence and perhaps a better sense of self when thrown out of your comfort zone. You also make new friends, who doesn't like that?! While it didn't change my future career plans, going abroad opened my eyes to travel(and helped me overcome my fear of planes) which is a hobby I would like to continue with as I grow ..."
