University Information
The Office of Study Abroad supports Brandeis students who participate on any of our 300 approved programs in some 65 different countries around the world.
On average 40% of the junior class studied abroad during the academic year while still more students took advantage of various international opportunities in the summer. There is a huge diversity of transformative experiences that Brandeis students have engaged in abroad including studying biodiversity conservation hands on in Panama, conducting ethnographic research on sacred figures in Mongolia, interning with Parliament in Edinburgh, United Kingdom, and interning in special education classrooms in Sydney, Australia to name a few.
Whatever your story, journey or adventure is destined to be, come by our office to learn more about the steps to going away!
Additionally, by logging in to Abroad101, all approved programs will be tagged with an "Approved" badge.

"100% worthwhile. I learned so much about English culture, how to enjoy life in the moment, loving being alone, the ability to make friends with different backgrounds and cultures, the excitement from spontaneous travel"

"I learned a lot about myself, as many do on their journey abroad, and my ability to engage with strangers. Traveling with people you've just met and getting around on a budget teaches you a lot about your limits and allows you to grow intrinsically. I definitely would say it was worthwhile. I also gained some amazing friendships..."

"Living with a host family was an incredible experience. I was able to really practice my French comprehension and speaking skills, but I also got to be exposed to true French culture and form long-lasting relationships with my host parents and siblings. The city was youthful and vibrant and gorgeous — already itching to go back!"

"Friends that would last through life. "

"I learned how much kinder people are in the rest of the world compared to in the US, and how there are so many things here that could be improved (I've always been critical of US policy, but going abroad reinforced that). Most definitely a worthwhile experience!"

"I got to visit 7 different European countries while abroad, and each trip was incredibly fun and eye-opening. The views were beautiful, and I even got to use my French skills when I traveled to France to talk to the locals. "It was super worthwhile. I learned I can manage alone in a foreign country without anyone I know and be happy. I learned that I can be happy again, alongside the sorrow. I met new people and saw how they live their lives and got new perspectives to mine. I was brave and adventurous and did only what I wanted, and built myself an..."

"My experience abroad was definitely worthwhile, but it also was not without its challenges. I found it difficult to meet people, especially to meet and stay in touch with local students. That being said, I improved my skills in doing things by myself and was able to explore the city and get to know London on my own. I was really..."

A student Brandeis University
"COMPLETELY WORTH IT! I gained more knowledge of the culture and the language, knowledge from classes that were outside of my major, and lifelong friends from other schools (We're already planning a reunion this fall). I fell in love with the city, its museums, food, culture, shopping, and overall charm."
A student Brandeis University
"I learned a lot about independence having to commute to school and cook for myself almost every night as well as confidence in myself and my language abilities that I would not have gained otherwise. "
Mariko G Brandeis University
"I learned a lot about living independently and within a city which I liked, but I'm not sure that is something unique to this program. I also just really enjoyed being in Europe!"
