"I am so glad I did this. I got to travel and learn so much."
Stephanie Abiassi The University of Texas at Austin
"Work experience through my internship, school/study skills through the different methods of teaching, and exposure to another culture and world. Completely worthwhile."
Jonathan Bolton The University of Texas at Austin
"Absolutely. Living in a foreign country alone is difficult. The first thing you learn is how much you feel like you're missing out at home - your family, pets, friends, food (a very big thing), the weather, etc. It might make you feel lonely if you don't find people you really click with right away. But it's great exposure to pe..."
Jeanie S The University of Texas at Austin
"One of the most important things I gained was greater insight into the way people from other countries viewed the US. Because the primary elections were taking place during my semester abroad, it was very interesting to learn what people from other countries thought on the matter. Additionally, I was able to learn what other int..."
Catherine S The University of Texas at Austin
"I learned how to adapt to things I never thought I'd have to get used to (for example, the cleaning ladies cleaned the bathrooms by plunging the mops into the urinals and mopping the ground with it ... by the way this is a girl's bathroom... I wish I were lying). Somehow at HKUST doors can be broken (?!) and prevent you from get..."

"Studying in Amsterdam with IES wasn't just a life changing experience, it was preparation for life after graduation and acceptance of a new life style and culture. Looking back on it, I wouldn’t have chosen another program or location. I met tons of other study abroad students from various countries who said they loved their pro..."
Abigail Z The University of Texas at Austin
"I gained a different perspective on life and Europe. I met a ton of international students that I will continue to keep in touch with. It was incredibly worthwhile and I honestly wish that I was able to stay for longer than four months."

Henry S The University of Texas at Austin
"I gained a better understanding of the world around me and of myself. I also discovered how complex some of the areas of the world are and that what we see portrayed on TV, especially news, is not necessarily the reality of the situation. It has been an incredibly worthwhile experience. "
A student The University of Texas at Austin
"I gained a lot on insight on the history of East London and London in general. Traveling after the semester is the best part. During the traveling and the program itself the interaction with people from all over the world expands your understanding of the world. It was definitely worthwhile."
Alexander V The University of Texas at Austin
"The overall experience was worthwhile, it's what you put into it. I learned the significance of balancing outside life with school/program obligations"
Ryan T The University of Texas at Austin
"I learned how to manage my time and the amount of outside work that I needed to complete in order to preform well in my classes. "
A student The University of Texas at Austin
"I spent more time with international students than with locals; it was a fantastic opportunity to interact with multiple world perspectives simultaneously. Also, it was a lot of fun learning London alongside others who were equally new to the city."
A student The University of Texas at Austin
"Incredibly worthwhile, I now know that I can make it in a foreign country on my own and can rise to work challenges. "
A student The University of Texas at Austin

"I learned not to be afraid to travel alone (especially as a female traveler). This was the perfect time for me to learn about myself, what I like, and that I can offer myself the best company. The opportunities and experienced I from traveling around the UK and to different European countries if imperative in my belief that the ..."

"I loved Mexico, and although I didn't make as much of an effort to perfect my Spanish as I should have, I learned a lot from my Mexican friends about local culture. I also learned a lot about cultural exchange from my international friends. I enjoyed representing the United States abroad and learning more about the ties between ..."
