I learned how to be more independent and, on the opposite side, I learned that it is okay to ask for help when you need it. Many times it is actually the strong thing to do. - Augsburg College View Entire Review
Aside from learning a lot about Irish history and culture, I also learned that I am capable of living and surviving on my own in a foreign country. Before traveling to Ireland, I had never been out of the States, and I had never really traveled alone, so just going there was a huge step for me. Now that it's over, I feel like I ... - University of Iowa View Entire Review
I'm more outgoing and independent. I learned a lot academically, and made sure to pick up a lot of the local literature, but I also learned to take care of myself and make plans for my own adventures. I gained confidence in international travel that will serve me well in the future. I gained an open mind, an appreciation for traveling, and new friends/people to network with. I learned better time management skills and self dependence since I was living on my own. All of this was worth it. - Knox College View Entire Review
IES Abroad has been detrimental to my experience thus far as a soon-to-be graduated senior. It helped me grow in so many different ways - emotionally (battling homesickness while finding new friends), physically (all the hikes I went on, calves of steel!), and intellectually (Irish language, history, and literature are all fasci... - Pacific Lutheran University View Entire Review

I always knew I would study abroad somewhere in Europe—the big question then became where? Studying abroad has taught me a lot about myself. I am more open to the idea of living somewhere extremely different for a short time, and it definitely made me catch the travel bug. Ireland is a beautiful country with wonderful people. It was so much fun being in the city throughout the week and then being able to disappear to the lush green countryside on the weekends!
