I gained usable knowledge in GIS mapping and introduction into engineering. I also got to travel to many countries I hadn't visited before. It was very worthwhile. Kaitlin T - Emory University View Entire Review
It was incredibly worthwhile. I learned to be more independent, learned to travel expertly and to let myself go with the flow more. I also discovered how much fun it can be to speak a foreign language and get to know a foreign culture. Billy D - Bates College View Entire Review

I learned alot about the culture and had an amazing time with the people from my program. It was completely worthwhile and I would highly recommend it. Katrina K - Texas Christian University View Entire Review
I learned so much about the culture I was in. Germans can be very outgoing when you really get to know them. They are just as curious about us as we are of them and some amazing friendships can come out of that. I also learned so much about ethnocentrism. Americans are the epitome of it. I gained an understanding about our cult... Madeleine W - Susquehanna University View Entire Review

I developed a deeper love of German culture, greatly improved my language skills, became more independent and met the most amazing friends who are still in my life a year later! This was the best decision that I could have made! Rachel J - College of Charleston View Entire Review
I learned how to travel alone and have fun with it, rather than stressing too much. It taught me how to be flexible, things will not always work out as planned but they will most likely work out in some way. This experience was invaluable, and has made me a much more independent person. A student - Trinity University View Entire Review
I learned what it meant to be truly independent and I learned how to view the world from many other perspectives. I loved to hear what other Americans or international students had to say about world politics, economics or even sports. mary.bachmann - University of Rochester View Entire Review

I specifically chose this program because of its focus on language immersion and I got just that. All classes were taught in German and the professors presented material effectively and were willing to help if someone was confused. My German improved dramatically and I made local German friends. I learned to speak a language fairly fluently that I previously could not. I also learned that if I can go out and get a job in a country where I could not speak the language well, I can go get a job anywhere. Eric A - Bates College View Entire Review
I seized as many opportunities as I possibly could while I was in Freiburg and did things I never thought I would be brave enough to do. I learned a lot of German, got more confident when speaking and gained a lot of knowledge about German life and culture - which is exactly what I wanted to gain from the program. However, one of the best things about this program were all the people I met. We were about 40 Americans, from all over the US, and at the end we were ... I learned so much- about Germany, the German language, and most importantly, about myself. I challenged myself on a daily basis, and yes, sometimes it was scary, but it was so worthwhile. Yes! I learned so much about myself and took away a new respect for foreigners who choose to study in the States. I also was able to connect with my German roots on a new level that I didn't think was possible. Oh sheesh. I look at pictures of me from sixth months ago and don't even recognize myself. I have become so much more confident and sure of myself, in knowing that I can survive (and thrive) in a foreign country speaking a foreign language. I know it sounds sappy and a bit too happy, but I have learned so much about myself and w... Teresa B - Pacific Lutheran University View Entire Review
Yes, it was definitely worthwhile. I tried to stay in Freiburg as much as possible, since i didn't want to spend money on too much travel, but i did get to go to so many places and understand the culture better.
