I met friends that I would never have met back home. They are open-minded, outgoing, worldly, and I plan to keep in touch with some of them for life. I tried new foods, learned about the culture, and visited many beautiful sites around Scotland. It was such an unforgettable experience, it can't be described in one paragraph. Absolutely. I had a wonderful time, and I met very interesting people. Carolyn J - Wellesley College View Entire Review
I loved my study abroad experience, but I wish that my academic performance reflected my experiences. Emily W - Middlebury College View Entire Review
I learned to be much more independent and self-reliant. I was used to living on my own, which I think made a big difference in my experience -- I knew how to cook and supply myself adequately. I learned I don't really like cities, large universities, or being alone all that much, which is great to know; I also gained a lot of c... Genevieve G - Wellesley College View Entire Review
Definitely; I became more independent, learned more about practical aspects of day-to-day life (cooking, shopping, transportation), became familiar with the literature of a specific, lesser-known country (one of the classes I took for credit towards my English major was Edinburgh in Fiction, which covered Scottish novels set in ... I have learned to be independent, confident and that the world is a lot bigger than my hometown. I have become more culturally aware and I will not go home the same person. Hannah V - Western New England University View Entire Review
I love Wellesley, but my semester was probably the most important semester in terms of gaining perspective on the world, but most of all myself. It definitely changed my priorities for my future plans as well. Jean K - Wellesley College View Entire Review
My experience was absolutely worthwhile. I made some life-long friends, fell in love with a new city, traveled to places I never thought I would, opened my eyes to the world, and made me realize things about myself that I had no idea were there. Simone D - Wellesley College View Entire Review
I have new perspectives on aspects of British history and literature, academically. I grew a lot socially because I forced myself to step out of my comfort zone by going to a place where I knew no one. I learned a lot about the world from spending time with other international students. Hayley L - Wellesley College View Entire Review
My abroad experience has impacted my cultural awareness tremendously. I have come to realize that, no matter where in the world you are, people all share the same fears and hopes. It is wonderful to learn that no matter how different people are, we all share some of the most basic things about ourselves. Ciara P - Providence College View Entire Review
Yes it was so worthwhile! I have such a better understanding of working in Government. Because the Scottish Parliament is so new you do get to do much more than you might in an American internship. I had spent time in Scotland before so I don't think my perspective was greatly changed but you can't place a value on living in a f... Kelsey P - Wellesley College View Entire Review
Yes. I am definitely more confident with traveling on my own and dealing with unfamiliar situations. Lynn G - Wellesley College View Entire Review

I absolutely think my experience was worthwhile! Of course there were times when its hard to be away from family, but having been home for 4 years now since my experience, all I can think about is my time in Scotland! Whether it's songs, scents, or even some sounds that trigger an experience, Scotland is always on my mind! The b... Samantha K - San Jose State University View Entire Review

I always ruled out Graduate School, but after spending 4 months studying at the University of Edinburgh I fully plan on going back to get my Masters there. As much as I missed Middlebury while abroad, my time in Edinburgh was the best time of my life. Academically, I think that Middlebury is much better suited for me as a studen... I'm divided on whether it was worthwhile. I probably would choose to either just stay at Wellesley or take the semester off to intern somewhere in the states or back home in Asia if I could do it again. Calin B - Wellesley College View Entire Review
My study abroad experience was amazing. I got to meet tons of people from all over the world. I also had the opportunity to explore the beautiful city of Edinburgh. My favorite part about studying at University of Edinburgh is that I had free weekends to travel all around Europe. Lucy S - Wellesley College View Entire Review
I learned how to relax more and go with the flow because in a foreign country so many things can trip you up. It's how you handle it that determines if you have a good outcome. I absolutely love the experience abroad and made a ton of friends that I will most definitely stay in contact with however, I wish some more planning had... Yes! I wish I went there full time. Lydia K - Wellesley College View Entire Review
I firmly believe every student, every human should live in a foreign country for at least a few months. It's really eye-opening. I think that my semester abroad was a good respite from Wellesley tunnel vision and ambition. I have a love/hate relationship with the school and I think I was ready for some space from all the Wellesl... Esther K - Wellesley College View Entire Review
These were some of the 5 best months of my life and I wouldn't take any moment of it back. The city is amazing. The people are amazing. The university is amazing. And it is the birth place of Harry Potter. Definitely, my favorite place in the world. Mary L - DePauw University View Entire Review
I would definitely say the experience as a whole was worthwhile. Within the walls of ECA, I was presented with challenges that gave me chance to see art-making through new eyes; I adapted to the unfamiliar surroundings, teaching methods, and tutor expectations. However, traveling provided the most valuable learning opportuniti... Amelia S - SMFA - School of the Museum of Fine Arts View Entire Review
I learned a lot more about what type of a place I want to live in and what is important to me. Carly S - Barnard College View Entire Review
This program was definitely worth while. I feel like I grew as a person and as a painter. I got to meet people from countries around the world, and made life long friends. I have a better understanding of what it is like to live outside of the United States, the differences in organization not only of the school system but of th... The University of Edinburgh provided a great experience by allowing you to determine what you wished to do while abroad. You were allowed to be as involved or uninvolved in the University activities and they put you in housing with local students. My involvement in this experience has certainly changed my perspective on life, ... Keith H - SUNY Purchase View Entire Review

Meeting these requirements does not guarantee entry to a course, but we will try and offer you a suitable alternative if space is not available.
