CIEE partners with overseas universities to provide direct matriculation options, creates CIEE courses to add to the offerings, and staffs each Study Center with CIEE-employed Resident Staff who provide co-curricular activities and around-the-clock student services. We offer quality academics with opportunities for cultural engagement such as excursions, homestays, volunteer opportunities, and internships to provide the highest quality study abroad experiences.

Study Abroad with CIEE
"I learned and experienced a few new things about the culture, history, and politics there, however most of the study abroad was a waste. Except for the CIEE led trips, I feel I did not learn much about the culture because everything we did was with the other American students and the classes were useless."

"Cultural experience"
A student Clark University - Worcester
"It was absolutely worthwhile. I not only mastered Spanish, but I made friends for life, learned to cope in a totally new environment, learned to become more independent, and had so much fun becoming a Sevillan during the year. "
A student Wellesley College
"I grew a deep appreciation for the fortitude that Moroccans exhibit in an everyday setting. It made me appreciate, and disdain all the same, the convenience with which we live with here in America. "
A student The University of Texas at Austin
"I learned that there are other ways of living and I like them more than America's. And yes, it was."

A student Brandeis University
"I learned how adaptable I am to new environments and how I'm more independent than I originally gave myself credit for. It was DEFINITELY a worthwhile experience and I was sad to leave."
A student The University of Texas at Austin
"I gained a lot of experience from working in the clinics and volunteering, which was what I was looking for. I met great people. The physical and cultural experience is more valuable than the classroom experience. "
Komal R The University of Texas at Austin
"To be independent, to not sweat the little things, and to realize there's more to life than a strict work schedule. "
A student Providence College
"My Korean (especially listening, vocab, and basic skills e.g. taking a taxi) improved a TON. If you study and do the homework for Korean class then you'll learn a lot. The most valuable aspect, however, is just learning about Korean culture and experiencing it first hand."
Kevin D The University of Texas at Austin
"Definitely worth it. I learned a language, and I learned about a culture through that language. "
A student Brandeis University
"I was finally able to start my studies of Arabic and feel much more comfortable traveling overseas. My French is also much better. It was absolutely a worthwhile experience, and I hope to be able to visit Morocco again in the future."
A student The University of Texas at Austin
"I learned a lot...mostly you learn a lot about yourself. Who you are, what you enjoy in life. Probably the best lesson I learned was to enjoy life. In the US, we don't know how to enjoy life. We always work work work. In Spain, they know how to enjoy life. Before Spain, I was always stressed out with classes and was always worki..."
Deidre G University of the Pacific
"Yes, it was worthwhile. I think I learned more about myself and it helped me be a more independent person."
A student Providence College
"Language skills, a stronger sense of independence, and that trains are the best thing in the world. I believe it was very worthwhile. I got to experience many things, such as concerts and conventions, that I would not have otherwise been able to experience."
A student Austin College
"You learn so much about yourself and what you are capable of when studying abroad. Nothing could be more rewarding"
Jessica R Providence College
"Gained a greater sense of independence, definitely worthwhile"
A student Brandeis University
"I learned and gained something inexpressible in this textbox. It was very worthwhile to go though, I hope everyone ends up studying abroad at some point in their life. "
A student Clark University - Worcester
"Learn to live in the moment and enjoy what around you, while appreciating the knowledge and history around you. "
A student University of the Pacific
"I gained a first-hand experience of all the customs and nuances that are found in Paris. It is definitely worthwhile to be able to interact with the locals and to experience the fast-paced lives they live, and to also see the darker side of the country where many live in poverty in one of the richest and historical cities in the..."
Maris G The University of Texas at Austin
"Immersion is the best way to learn a language."
A student Wellesley College
"Prague is a fantastic city, inexpensive and full of interesting places and people. I found that Prague was one of the places you had to work to feel comfortable. I really tried to find the places I liked best and it required some searching. It was very worthwhile."
A student Barnard College
"Gained a better world perspective, absolutely "
A student Middlebury College
"I learned about myself and about many different cultures. I learned Spanish as well and how to effectively balance my school work and fun. Gained a ton of new friends and a newfound appreciation for my own home country, the USA. "
Brendan D Villanova University
"Being abroad was the best experience!! It definitely made me grow up a lot because it makes you more independent. It also helped me realize how much there is to know out there and how big the world is. There is so much more to life than just studying and working and I learned that I dont need to be confined to only the US. "
