Direct Enrollment/Exchange is a program provider offering 1872 abroad programs. Programs offered include Study Abroad, Internship, Volunteer, Intensive Language, Gap Year, Graduate Program, High School, Research, Online Program, TEFL Courses, and Adventure Travel abroad programs in 121 countries such as Spain, Costa Rica, Italy, and Ecuador.
Below you will find a directory of foreign universities and reviews from students who participated in an exchange, or in direct enrollment.
In a Direct Enrollment program, students have the option of applying directly to the university they wish to attend abroad. Students can go for either one or two semesters and apply using that university's application process listed for international students. Sometimes these students are called Visiting Students, Guest Students or Free Movers. At the foreign university, they will be supported by the university's office of international students, housed with other international students and have the opportunity not only to immerse in a foreign culture, but to do so with students from all over the world.
In an Exchange, you attend a foreign university and a foreign student attends your home university, a student swap for a semester or year. Your university will handle the details of the exchange, you just need to find the ideal foreign university. Hopefully the listings and reviews below can help you down that path. You will need to contact your university's study abroad department or your academic advisor for details on the exchange because the number of valid/active exchange partners may be very limited.

"I learned a lot about myself, and I learned a lot about the rest of the world. I didn't realize there would be so many international students form all over the world. I barely spent any time with Americans."
Tali M Wellesley College
"I learned more out of school. About myself, other cultures, and life."
Mackenzie B University of North Dakota
"My experiences abroad cannot be sufficiently summarized in just a few paragraphs, but I'll do my best to share the highlights. Edinburgh is such a unique place and is at a pivotal moment politically (with the September 18th Scottish independence referendum coming up). As an American abroad in the UK, I thoroughly enjoyed my time..."
Leigh P Wellesley College
"It was both fun and a learning experience. The Eastern German culture is so interesting and unique."
A student The University of Texas at Austin
"This was definitely a worthwhile experience. I learned so much about other cultures and met so many amazing people. It gave me a deeper insight into how other people live and view the world which expanded my own personal view. "
eliza.marks.98 The University of Texas at Austin
"I learn't all sort of things. How to move by myself in a different country, I learnt about different cultures, how to do most things by myself, etc. I loved studying abroad for the people I met and for such a fun and beautiful country but I must say that I did not like much the classes at the university. I wish they would have l..."
A student Middlebury College
"History and culture is much more significant in everyday lives than we normally notice, and in some countries more so than others. I would say I mostly gained, skills, memories/experiences, and most importantly friends from my experience abroad! Ho ha Monterrey!"
Casey D Truman State University
"It was worth it and then some. I gained close to 50 new friends and several that will be friends for a lifetime"
jake.lebowitz.5 Middlebury College
"My study abroad was about self-discovery and cultural exposure. Though I was very disappointed by the academics at HKU, I knew going in that it would be very different from my liberal arts education. At a certain point, I decided that academics would not be the focus of my study abroad and instead concentrated on meeting people ..."
nari.savanorkejoyce Wellesley College
"I gained the opportunity to see maybe the most beautiful country in the world."
Derek S Middlebury College
"Improved my Korean, got firsthand experience of Korean life, and ate great food. "
Ian R Middlebury College
"I mostly learned about myself and how to move to a new city and start over. I definitely think it was a great growing experience and worthwhile. It was also great to be able to travel much more easily than here in Texas. But I'd like to warn you: if you have any problems with anxiety or mental distress of any kind, it will bubbl..."
Kelsey M The University of Texas at Austin
"The tutorial system, though difficult, encouraged me to learn so much. Many of the topics I chose were very specific topics that a smaller university may not have offered, so being able to be tutored from tutors all over Oxford University was great."
A student Wellesley College
"It was mostly worthwhile for the incredible experiences I had, and the people I met. Sydney is an amazing place, it would be hard to be bored there. The classes at USYD were, of course, comparatively dull, but not bad nonetheless (some great professors)."
A student Middlebury College
"I gained a more realistic view of the United Kingdom and an opportunity to explore the rest of Europe. More importantly, I experienced physics classes taught at a significantly larger university than my home institution. The experience was definitely worthwhile in terms of my enjoyment and in my exposure to different academic en..."
A student Middlebury College
"it taught me how to be myself, and deal with struggles, like getting lost, not knowing the language, dealing with people that hard to get along with, and how to be independent. "
A student University of Hartford
"Scotland is full of warm people, and the international atmosphere of Edinburgh makes for vibrant culture. I learned the need to self-motivate integration into the social scene, and (relatedly) to spend time with myself in a busy city setting. It was very, very worthwhile!"
A student Middlebury College
"I gained a wealth of new experiences and new friends. It was the best decision I have made."
Noah G Middlebury College
"Learning how to put yourself in another country, learning the language, and fending for yourself is one of the greatest things you can do for yourself. You learn so much. It gives you the confidence to keep trying new things especially in different countries. "
Lizelle P LaSalle University
"I learned how to be independent in a different culture, amongst people who spoke a foreign language, in an unfamiliar place. I learned so much about the history and culture of Italy but also about myself. It was definitely a worthwhile experience and I would do it again a million times if I could."
Meghan R SUNY - Binghamton
"What I gained is not measure in grades. I gained memories and experiences that will last a lifetime. I also learned about a culture that is rich, diverse and very old."
A student
"The greatest thing about being abroad was being able to live & breath the European culture & lifestyle. I had never left Texas before and so this was a huge change for me, in many ways. It was worthwhile in the sense that every stereotype or cliche i brought with me was put to the test. And while some may have held true, most..."
Kenny S The University of Texas at Austin
"I ultimately learned French, which was the goal. As well, I made a lot of international friends and had a chance to see cultures that weren't mine."
A student Baylor University
"Absolutely explored London a lot!"
Yu Z Wellesley College
"I learned a bit of French and a bit about French culture. Aix and I guess France as a whole is a first-world Western place like the US but the way of life is so different it might as well be on another planet. Experiences in the classroom and around town certainly shaped my career and life ambitions. But bring those Euros... she..."
