Direct Enrollment/Exchange is a program provider offering 1872 abroad programs. Programs offered include Study Abroad, Internship, Volunteer, Intensive Language, Gap Year, Graduate Program, High School, Research, Online Program, TEFL Courses, and Adventure Travel abroad programs in 121 countries such as Spain, Venezuela, The United Kingdom, and Ireland.
Below you will find a directory of foreign universities and reviews from students who participated in an exchange, or in direct enrollment.
In a Direct Enrollment program, students have the option of applying directly to the university they wish to attend abroad. Students can go for either one or two semesters and apply using that university's application process listed for international students. Sometimes these students are called Visiting Students, Guest Students or Free Movers. At the foreign university, they will be supported by the university's office of international students, housed with other international students and have the opportunity not only to immerse in a foreign culture, but to do so with students from all over the world.
In an Exchange, you attend a foreign university and a foreign student attends your home university, a student swap for a semester or year. Your university will handle the details of the exchange, you just need to find the ideal foreign university. Hopefully the listings and reviews below can help you down that path. You will need to contact your university's study abroad department or your academic advisor for details on the exchange because the number of valid/active exchange partners may be very limited.

"Yes!"
Natalie M Marymount University
"I jumped off waterfalls in Zambia and pet crocodiles in Botswana. I dealt with issues of rape, pregnancy and hate crimes and have come out of the experience a new person. Maybe a bit more jaded, but also a bit wiser about the world. Go on this program if you want to change your life."
Sophie G Wellesley College
"Of course. It helped me to become a more confident person, who now is prepared to experience new people and places. Also, I'm very proud of the connections I made with those that I met there."
Daniel W Austin College
"I expanded upon my political understanding of the world considering Canberra is the political heartbeat of Australia. Every embassy is located in Canberra, so it's quite a multicultural city. I learned a lot about Australia's political system and its two major parties and their views. Overall, my academic interests have remained..."

"Studying abroad was certainly worth it. I would absolutely do it again if I could rewind time. It's given me a better understanding of what I'm capable of; I feel more self-confident and know that I can travel in a foreign country, meet people, and have fun. I know I can make goals and achieve them. I can absolutely control m..."

"In some ways yes, in other ways no. I felt like a lot of the experience, back in Illinois and in England, was left up to me. Most of the information wasn't clear cut, so I had to interpret my own expectations and requirements. It was horribly frustrating, but what I learned about myself through the trials was beneficial. The rea..."

"This experience was the most worthwhile time of my life. I don't know if it impacted my academic interests... but it gave me a glance at a different world, a different life. It's fascinating to learn about the differences.. I knew they existed I just didn't know what they were and now I feel as though I have a better understan..."

"Apart from becoming fluent in Spanish, which I don;t think would have been possible without a full immersion experience, I came away with a much more open worldview. "
Rachelle P California State University - Northridge
"I can't say that my academic plans have changed. I went to Mexico because it already fit into my academic interests. I have always been fascinated by Mexico-US relations so PMCSP was perfect! I just found it fascinating to see the cultural differences on the other side of the border. I was looking forward to it so long and I can..."

"My time at The University of Stirling was fascinating and extremely memorable. I feel much more independent now than I did before. I also feel that I am capable of making more of my own decisions. The most influencial realization that I had while overseas was that I always have more options available to me than I realize and tha..."

"I loved getting to learn about a different culture firsthand. Being able to live in London alone made the program worthwhile. It is such an amazing city, and I loved getting to know it. "
Elizabeth F Wellesley College
"Definitely worthwhile! I loved being in Egypt! I had zero expectation and came away with 101% fulfillment. "

"It is funny, I seemed to experience more of a culture shock coming back to America than going to Morocco. I knew that the U.S was vastly different from a majority of countries, but I think actually living amongst the people of Morocco for six weeks affirmed this statement. For one, friendship is extremely valued there. If you to..."

"I am a far more independent person now. I had to be an advocate for myself while I was over there and do things myself. My German proficiency skyrocketed. I made friends from all over the world that i still speak to and see. I learned so much about German culture, as well was European culture. It helped me create a more global w..."

"I did not like our program and did not think my money was put to good use with IOSP. I would have rathered paid more money for a decent program that took us to different places and helped us with any problems than being left to venture on our own without help. "
Elizabeth R Illinois State University
"When I went out of Italy, yes."
Jessica B Illinois State University
"I would go back and relive those four months over and over again if possible. I loved every minute of it, never once felt home sick. I had the world at my finger tips; I saw Rome, Edinburgh, countless castles, and the country side of England. While over there I was laughing nonstop, having the time of my life. "

"This program was especially wonderful thanks to the host family component. I learned so much from actually living with a local family. I travelled around a little bit, but spent most of time experiencing Tucuman with local friends. I didn't realize until I was on a bus at the very end of my stay talking to a Canadian girl tra..."
