Direct Enrollment/Exchange is a program provider offering 1872 abroad programs. Programs offered include Study Abroad, Internship, Volunteer, Intensive Language, Gap Year, Graduate Program, High School, Research, Online Program, TEFL Courses, and Adventure Travel abroad programs in 121 countries such as Spain, Venezuela, The United Kingdom, and Ireland.
Below you will find a directory of foreign universities and reviews from students who participated in an exchange, or in direct enrollment.
In a Direct Enrollment program, students have the option of applying directly to the university they wish to attend abroad. Students can go for either one or two semesters and apply using that university's application process listed for international students. Sometimes these students are called Visiting Students, Guest Students or Free Movers. At the foreign university, they will be supported by the university's office of international students, housed with other international students and have the opportunity not only to immerse in a foreign culture, but to do so with students from all over the world.
In an Exchange, you attend a foreign university and a foreign student attends your home university, a student swap for a semester or year. Your university will handle the details of the exchange, you just need to find the ideal foreign university. Hopefully the listings and reviews below can help you down that path. You will need to contact your university's study abroad department or your academic advisor for details on the exchange because the number of valid/active exchange partners may be very limited.

Alex A St. Cloud State University
"Absolutely! I'm amazed at how much I've learned about the world. It's cliche but you will learn so much about yourself and others. I know I want to come back for a longer stay to work in Europe for a year or 2."
Philip D The University of Texas at Austin
"YES! I am so much more open minded, I have an appreciation for the Spanish language and culture that I did not have before, and I fell in love with it!! I eventually would love to return to visit my 'family' there and my friends. Hopefully if lucky even work for sometime. "

Allison N University of Wisconsin - Madison
"I think I gained world experience. I have changed as a person and without this experience I would have never done that. Even though some of the classes were not that great overall it was the best decision I have ever made. "

Rachel B SUNY - Binghamton
"The program challenged me to my highest potential. It was truly rewarding to know that I could get myself out of any situation in a foreign country and be as happy as I was. I had an amazing experience and it inspired me to continue my traveling ventures throughout the rest of my life."
Christine A Hobart and William Smith Colleges
"Yes, very worthwhile. Learned a lot about the language and culture"
Laura M The University of Texas at Austin
"It changed me as a person. It's hard to look back now, being so far removed from Karlsruhe and semi-integrated into Presbyterian community; but when I do think of the streets I walked, the people I met, the things I saw, I can't replace that feeling. I left unsure about life, who I was, what I cared about. Being there was like l..."
Lauren H Presbyterian College
"Yes, it was completely worthwhile. It was very difficult at times, but that only made it more worth it in the end. I wouldn't take the decision to go abroad back for anything, but to expect that everything will go smoothly and will be "the best time you've ever had" would be erroneous. The best way to prepare yourself is just to..."
Mina F Rice University
"I was really bummed out with the weather. My decision to study in Melbourne wasn't very informed. I didn't expect it to be as cold and rainy as it was, and I was expecting more of the stereotypical "Aussie life" in Melbourne. The idea of AUSTRALIA was just so intriguing and I didn't think you could go wrong. But if I could d..."
Zoe J University of California - Berkeley
"I am a completely new and better person from this experience. I am now open to so many more things and feel I have a new look on life. As before, I still plan on teaching but with a BA in Spanish from this year abroad I have the option to teach in a duel immersion course . I now plan on teaching abroad in South America. "
Louise W California State University - Long Beach
"Absolutely. If not for the confidence in travel and joy in history and tourism (and the novelty of having an accent that everyone adored), my friendships made my time incredibly more worthwhile and enriching than I ever expected and will have a longer impact on me than I could ever have anticipated."
Teresa G Trinity University
" During my time studying abroad, there were many up's and down's. During my stay there, I had experiences of a life time and met people who changed my life. While I was there, I became friends with the ERASMUS group which is the study abroad program within Europe. This program allows people from any country to go to another..."
Elizabeth Q Birmingham-Southern College
"I feel that I was greatly impacted by my experience abroad. It helped me gain greater self confidence and awareness. I now know so much more about the Hispanic world than I thought I did. I no longer confuse South American stereotypes with those of mainland Spain. I also have a greater appreciation for the diversity of the count..."
