To help with the funding of your study abroad, we have compiled this list of scholarship opportunities offered by providers of study abroad programs and foreign host universities. In this directory you will see information from these organizations, which may help you fund your dream of study abroad.
Many other resources exist, including those from your home university, you should check with your study abroad office for a list of these. You might also consider how study abroad may impact your existing university Financial Aid package, as the cost of your education will change.

International Studies Abroad / ISA
2 scholarships available across 64 programsISA offers USD 8,000 worth of scholarships annually dedicated to the memory of Michaela Farnum. Michaela was a junior studying International Business and Spanish at Seattle University and was a participant in the ISA program in Chile. Her experience was tragically cut short when she lost her life in a hiking accident in the mountains of La Campana National Park in Chile. ISA hopes that this scholarship will help aspiring study abroad students and will do so in memory of Michaela who only began to realize her dream of study abroad. The scholarship is both merit and financial need-based scholarships for the study abroad expenses for the summer term of the student awardees
8 x $1,000 for Summer Programs
The ISA Diversity Scholarships aim to encourage students of a broader cultural make-up to participate in ISA programs by offering funds to assist with the expenses of studying abroad. The scholarship amounts to USD 14,000 in awards and is to be used towards ISA programs.

USAC
1 scholarship available across 56 programsUSAC awards over $500,000 in scholarships and discounts each year to assist students with their study abroad expenses. We have a variety of funding opportunities available for students enrolled in USAC programs. We also encourage students to research online for additional sources of financial aid and external scholarships for study abroad students. Additional scholarship information and application instructions will be provided on your Student Gateway account once you apply to a USAC program.

The Education Abroad Network (TEAN)
1 scholarship available across 51 programsThe Education Abroad Network Full Ride Scholarship is designed to give a stand-out student the opportunity to study abroad. Studying abroad is a personal journey and the winning applicant will show us not only the journey they’ve been on to arrive at this point, but also the journey they envision studying abroad will entail. This annual scholarship can be used for TEAN program and covers tuition, program fees and orientation orientation (up to $15,000 value).

AIFS
2 scholarships available across 43 programsAIFS is a leading provider of study abroad programs, with a wide range of unique opportunities in Asia, Australia, Europe, South Africa and the Americas. Most AIFS campuses offer courses in English or in foreign languages from beginner to advanced levels, so you can have the study abroad experience that best suits you. The program fee is all-inclusive, making it simple for you to live, study abroad, and experience all that the world has to offer. Each year, more than $800,000 in scholarships and grants is awarded to deserving students & institutions. Funds are available for both summer and semester programs.

CISabroad / Center for International Studies
5 scholarships available across 43 programsThis award is intended for students within the LGBTQIA+ community, as part of CIS Abroad’s commitment to Generation Study Abroad. Studying abroad as an LGBTQIA+ or gender nonconforming student brings an additional set of challenges and options to consider. There are some questions you may want to ask yourself, and research to be done, before choosing a study abroad program – but our LGBTQIA+ students have amazing experiences abroad and often find local LGBTQIA+ communities to be a part of. Recipients will select from a variety of mediums to share their story while abroad, in addition to submitting a photo testimonial.

This award is intended for students in a Greek Life organization who need help covering the cost of membership dues while abroad. In keeping with the philanthropic values of Greek Life organizations, recipients should plan to participate in at least one self-directed volunteer opportunity while abroad and produce content (ex. a blog post or video) related to that experience, in addition to other selections.

We understand first-generation students face additional barriers to studying and interning abroad. In fact, many staff members at CIS Abroad are also first-generation college students. This scholarship is intended to help fund the visa process, flights, and international housing for students who are among the first from their family to go to college. Recipients will share their story of learning and exploration while abroad with a photo gallery and their choice of travel vlog, blogging, or an Instagram takeover.

This award is intended for students who demonstrate excellence in their academic major. While abroad, recipients will use a variety of channels (video, blogging, photos) to share how studying/interning abroad is enriching their academic or professional career, in addition to submitting a photo testimonial.

This award is intended to benefit students of color, who are traditionally underrepresented within education abroad. We aim to widen the diversity of our community of interns and students abroad and foster equity in access to these experiences. If you identify as biracial, multiracial, Black, African & African American, Caribbean American, Latinx / Chican@ / Hispanic, Asian & Asian American, Native, Pacific Islander, or another minoritized racial/ethnic identity not listed, we invite you to apply.
