University Information
The Office of Study Abroad supports Brandeis students who participate on any of our 300 approved programs in some 65 different countries around the world.
On average 40% of the junior class studied abroad during the academic year while still more students took advantage of various international opportunities in the summer. There is a huge diversity of transformative experiences that Brandeis students have engaged in abroad including studying biodiversity conservation hands on in Panama, conducting ethnographic research on sacred figures in Mongolia, interning with Parliament in Edinburgh, United Kingdom, and interning in special education classrooms in Sydney, Australia to name a few.
Whatever your story, journey or adventure is destined to be, come by our office to learn more about the steps to going away!
Additionally, by logging in to Abroad101, all approved programs will be tagged with an "Approved" badge.

"Very worthwhile. I have a better grasp on another culture and have learned to subdue my extroversion so as to fit in. I also got to travel quite a bit!"
A student Brandeis University
"I learned a lot about myself and became more independent. Definitely worthwhile!"

"It was! I learned that people really do operate differently in different cultures. In Denmark, emotions are something very personal. It’s weird to say how are you to someone, even a friend. "
Marek Haar Brandeis University

Addie M Brandeis University

Yasmine Haddad Brandeis University
"It was absolutely worthwhile- I had never been to Australia before, and I was able to check so much off my bucket list. Though travel is much harder to do than in Europe, it is so worth being in this part of the world and seeing so many stunning places!"

"Fluency and cultural knowledge "
Emily Botto Brandeis University
"I learned so much about cultures I really had no prior knowledge about. Being able to visit and interact with different indigenous communities was a once-in-a-lifetime experience that I am so grateful to have had. I also do not believe I would have been able to achieve the level of Spanish I am at now without my time in Peru."
Olivia K Brandeis University
"Study abroad was definitely worthwhile. I learned so much about myself, the Spanish culture and the world in general. "
Arial Nieberding Brandeis University

"Instrumental knowledge, language knowledge, cultural knowledge."
Benjamin Astrachan Brandeis University
"I loved it -- I loved living on my own (mostly) and forcing myself to interact daily with a culture different than what I grew up in; Prague is very affordable and fun and is a great location to access other countries in Europe "
Hannah Kressel Brandeis University
"I learned a lot about myself, how to be self sufficient, and how to be myself"
Andrea Sloter Brandeis University
"A lot. I personally got a lot of relevant experience in things I cared about which was great. I was also forcibly put in alien social situations, which was a good push for me personally, and I think it helped me grow a lot as a consequence. For me, it was definitely worth my time and worth spending a semester."
A student Brandeis University
"New Spanish skills, lifelong friends, incomparable experiences, checks off my bucket list, and so much more. It was worth every penny."
A student Brandeis University
"Independence. YEs. "
A student Brandeis University

A student Brandeis University
"I gained different perspectives and was encouraged to think more analytically. It was worth it because I would not have learned that in an American institution. "
