"I think it was definitely worthwhile. Although I was not that satisfied with the education I received at University College London, I loved the city, loved the people, and overall I had an amazing time."

"I can't spell out what I gained and learned from this experience. I feel speechless when I think about what my year at Oxford did for me as a student and as a young woman. I know that I haven't gained a full understanding of what that year did for me. But I do know that I have never felt happier, more curious, more intellectu..."

"I learned what it is like to live by yourself for 9 months and how to figure out a city you've never lived in before. I learned about photography and different photographic processes. I learned about the histories of different art forms and about the contemporary fine art world. I learned about myself and pushed myself in ways t..."

"I feel that at Oxford I honed my academic skills. I can now absorb and process information and produce work with an efficiency I never thought possible. Additionally I had an amazing social and cultural experience. "

"I met a lot of new friends from all different backgrounds, and learned a lot from all of them. "

"I learned how to navigate a foreign environment. I gained a thoughtful and well-informed perspective of German culture, and had the chance to experience it for myself and really immerse myself in it. I met interesting people, though that was something I had to strive to do on my own and was not easy. If I could, I would do it ag..."

"I was able to improve my Spanish speaking skills as well as learn about the local culture. "

"I learned an enormous amount about myself, and I have a new connection and my values and desires. Many of my perspectives and beliefs were consistently challenged and complicated in a really important way, and I learned new ways of articulating myself and my place in the world."

"I learned a lot about Shanghai that I could not have previously read about. Academically, I learned a lot about the economic development and the business environment in China. "

"My time abroad was definitely worthwhile. I gained many new friends, discovered a whole new country and culture, discovered a delicious new cuisine, became more independent and confident, proved myself that I can thrive outside of my comfort zone, proved to myself that I can live in a completely different culture / country, broa..."

"I actually did learn a lot about myself. Honestly, stuff I learned in the classroom was just a bonus, most of it was traveling around, getting to know the cities, having fun, hanging out with friends, learning about these 31 strangers I now had as friends."

"Despite Scotland being an English-speaking country I still went through culture shock and feel like I got such a different educational and cultural experience while there. It was easy to travel, but there were also endless things to do in Edinburgh, so I was constantly exploring and experiencing new things."
A student Wellesley College
"100% WORTHWHILE. It was tough deciding if I was going to stay for a year. To be honest, I miss Wellesley everyday- it truly is a wonderful place, and we are getting an unparalleled experience by living and learning there. That being said, I also love Edinburgh, but it is different, and I think that when going into any study ..."

"Programs in multiple different countries help you gain perspective on what you're learning, on culture in general, and on your own home culture. "

"There's so much to learn and experience about the world outside of the United States. Travel between European states deemed much cheaper than expected, surprisingly, so it was great to experience different cultures in such close proximity to one another. I also learned a lot about my family's heritage through a genealogical sear..."

"There is no way I can explain how much I believe my experience in Cameroon was "worthwhile"; it was beyond worthwhile. It changed my entire way of seeing the world, the way I see myself, and the way I live my life. About myself: I learned that I adapt very well to new settings, more than I believed I could. I finally made a deci..."

"I met a lot of different people and I learned a whole different academic system. Set in a unique environment, London provides a lot of opportunity to engage and learn from academics, societies, and cultural events. One of the KEY experiences at the LSE (different from small liberal arts college) is the significant amount of use..."

"It was completely worthwhile. I think the program was poorly organized and didn't help me as much as I thought it would (I did, however, find my German program tutor to be fantastic). I learned more outside the classroom, living in a foreign city and immersing myself in a culture/language. That was completely worth it."
A student Wellesley College
"Yes. I gained language skills, I learned how to live alone, I learned how to take care of myself, how to harangue an airline on the telephone, I overcame my fear of traveling and then my fear of traveling alone, I learned a lot about myself, I learned that I am capable of writing 24 pages of German, I learned that communication ..."

"N.B. I said I wouldn't choose the same program not because I hated WIA, but because I was deciding between WIA and Sciences Po Paris and think that Paris might have been a better fit for me. The program was certainly worthwhile, but I felt like I wasted a lot of time. Maybe that's because I get really irritated whenever I fee..."
