"I improved my language skills, while also making many new friends and getting outside of my comfort zone."

"My time abroad in Denmark taught me a lot about what I'm capable of, instilling in me a new self-awareness and confidence. I learned a lot about Scandinavian/European culture and politics, giving me insight as to how the supposedly "happiest" people in the world live, clarifying the wonderful and problematic things about my own ..."

"I gained increased independence and comfortability while traveling last semester. This experience was absolutely worthwhile, and though I enjoyed my time at SOAS, it was most valuable because of how easily and cheaply I was able to travel between countries. I appreciated how different SOAS was from Wellesley, and that I was able..."

"I improved my Spanish language skills, learned that I'm capable of a lot of things, problem solving, how to manage money and look for deals, and that there are different ways of living from my own. YES."
A student Wellesley College
"Growth. Sanity. Support from a network of new friends, program staff and host family. A host of new experiences. Fearlessness. Ability to use public transportation in a number of countries. "

"I think it was an overall worthwhile experience, but it depends on the atmosphere of the program. "

"I very much enjoyed the study abroad experience as I got to meet lots of new friends of different background. It was interesting to see the different lifestyle and educational style between UK and US. A student Wellesley College
"Lots of language progress. But also lots of fun. Also completed a capstone project, and LOTS of travel around China (my favorite part of the whole experience)."
A student Wellesley College
"SO MUCH language learning. completed the equivalent of one year of language in 8 weeks. If you want to really be forced to learn a language, this program is for you. But if you're less familiar with living in a developing country/area, or don't want to deal with a very intense learning curve, I would choose a lighter program."

"I chose IHP Health and Community, because I knew it was the kind of opportunity that I would likely never have again. I think that I grew a lot as person and some pretty incredible friendships. But it's so hard to sum up my experience! I wish I could do it all over again. "
A student Wellesley College
"Definitely worthwhile; showed me where I want to apply to grad school."

Julia P Wellesley College
"I learned more about the people and the local experience of life in the Middle East, (from anecdotes and friends), that I could not have possibly gained in the US. Also, in terms of the people, I more than once learned about the differences in social interaction and how to adapt to fit it. "
Eliza M Wellesley College
"I learned what it is like to be a foreigner and how to both cope with and assimilate into another culture. It helped make me more independent and willing to get outside my comfort zone. I met all kinds of people and saw beautiful places. Definitely a worthwhile experience. "
A student Wellesley College
"Got savvier with money and learned how to travel really well."
A student Wellesley College
"So much. I don't even know where to begin. Totally worthwhile, though it wasn't necessarily the best time for me emotionally to be abroad (my sophomore year was turbulent to say the least). I had a lot of time for self-reflection. "
