Absolutely. You don't go to Oxford to fool around or make lots of friends. You go to study. There is nowhere better in the world to do that than Oxford. hzc234 - Middlebury College View Entire Review
I learned a lot specific to my major, a lot of general research skills, and some new things about British culture. A student - Middlebury College View Entire Review
I participated in an entirely different manner of academic study while at CMRS, which would be the same for any program which introduces American students to the Oxford or Cambridge tutorial style of learning, but I was able to do so while at the same time receiving all the support such a transition called for and then some. I s... A student - Wellesley College View Entire Review

I read a ton of English literature, learned more about medieval Europe, got to see cathedrals and abbeys, got to experience Oxford for four months, had full access to all the Oxford colleges, made great friends from other American universities (as well as some British friends). It was absolutely, 100% worth it - I'd go back in a... student-fall2013 - St. Mary's College of Maryland View Entire Review
Going abroad was definitely worthwhile, but this program was not for me. It is only American students, and it is very hard to find your place within the larger university. However, I did learn from the experience. Though I studied in an English-speaking country, there are many cultural differences. I learned to adapt to my surro... definitely worthwhile. A student - Middlebury College View Entire Review
The experience was extremely worthwhile. I gained an appreciation for a new culture, for a different education system, and for the material I was studying. I also learned some independence and through the experience gained more confidence. A student - St. Mary's College of Maryland View Entire Review
Still undecided on how worthwhile it was. I am glad I did it but am unsure I would do it, simply because of that month-long integral course and the nature of the program. I certainly learned a lot - the tutorial experience was invaluable and I am so glad I did it. But I don't think it was worth it's money's worth. A student - Middlebury College View Entire Review
I feel like the academics made it worth it, as well as being in the city of Oxford, which is beautiful A student - Middlebury College View Entire Review
It was definitely worthwhile. I got to travel, meet new people, and I learned a lot about myself. It wasn't always easy but it was all worth it. A student - St. Mary's College of Maryland View Entire Review
Absolutely. I gained new friends and better self-knowledge, especially about my post-collegiate life. A student - Wellesley College View Entire Review
I learned to trust myself and that I could participate in an academically rigorous program and succeed. It was most definitely worthwhile. A student - St. Mary's College of Maryland View Entire Review
I think it was a great experience socially and academically A student - Middlebury College View Entire Review
I gained a greater confidence in my research and writing abilities and learned a new way to approach texts through context and critical analysis without letting these stand in the way of personal discovery. While I felt disconnected from the university, especially socially, at times, the program was worthwhile academically, and,... A student - Middlebury College View Entire Review
Three months at CMRS and Oxford, and I learnt - although just a little - about being a scholar, as opposed to being a student. I learnt to be a critical and (relatively) good writer, and to be able to defend my own view any moment. I learnt to be a good friend. It was an exceptional experience. However, I would say that the ... A student - Wellesley College View Entire Review
I learned a lot about myself and my work ethic while I was abroad. I think it was extremely worthwhile and want desperately to go back. A student - St. Mary's College of Maryland View Entire Review
It was academically stimulating, but it is unfortunate that we were not able to live/learn with local British students. We only mingle with around 22 other American students who are also participating in the program. That said, I am extremely grateful to have met some wonderful and inspiring tutors in my program. I learned more about my capacity as a student and my penchant for learning. A student - Middlebury College View Entire Review
I learned more about myself and my academic capabilities as a student; I learned I could survive on my own in the real world, to a degree. I also learned to cook, and I learned I love cooking. Of course it was worthwhile, though it took a great journey to prove it true. steven.gentry.75 - St. Mary's College of Maryland View Entire Review
I gained a sense of confidence and independence that I had been missing. It was the greatest semester of my life and I wish that I could go back and do it all over again. helen.parshall - St. Mary's College of Maryland View Entire Review
Studying abroad was valuable in that it allowed me to take classes within a different educational system. The courses were challenging, and I feel that I learned from the experience. A student - Middlebury College View Entire Review
Absolutely. Studying under the 'tutorial system' is worth the experience alone. A student - Middlebury College View Entire Review
I learned so much history that I didn't know before (and as that's my major I'm kind of a history nerd), and it was in an environment where the resources for taking a line of investigation one step further were always available. I greatly increased my skill in essay writing and expressing my arguments orally, and in the one-on-o... A student - St. Mary's College of Maryland View Entire Review
I learned to be more confident in my overall academic abilities, in addition to venture out of my level of comfort a bit more. Yes, I think going abroad to Oxford was indeed worthwhile and I would definitely do it again. A student - Middlebury College View Entire Review
I learned that I could throw myself into a wholly new situation that was challenging academically and succeed and have a great time. It was totally worthwhile A student - Middlebury College View Entire Review
