Direct Enrollment/Exchange is a program provider offering 1872 abroad programs. Programs offered include Study Abroad, Internship, Volunteer, Intensive Language, Gap Year, Graduate Program, High School, Research, Online Program, TEFL Courses, and Adventure Travel abroad programs in 121 countries such as Spain, Venezuela, The United Kingdom, and Ireland.
Below you will find a directory of foreign universities and reviews from students who participated in an exchange, or in direct enrollment.
In a Direct Enrollment program, students have the option of applying directly to the university they wish to attend abroad. Students can go for either one or two semesters and apply using that university's application process listed for international students. Sometimes these students are called Visiting Students, Guest Students or Free Movers. At the foreign university, they will be supported by the university's office of international students, housed with other international students and have the opportunity not only to immerse in a foreign culture, but to do so with students from all over the world.
In an Exchange, you attend a foreign university and a foreign student attends your home university, a student swap for a semester or year. Your university will handle the details of the exchange, you just need to find the ideal foreign university. Hopefully the listings and reviews below can help you down that path. You will need to contact your university's study abroad department or your academic advisor for details on the exchange because the number of valid/active exchange partners may be very limited.

"Greatly improved my cultural awareness. Made me more self-sufficient and adaptable."
Amy C University of Hawaii - Manoa
"Definitely worthwhile. I had a chance to also do a research internship with the psychology department and worked on two projects with Ph.D. students. I learned about the education system in Australia and also decided to pursue research my senior year in college."
Taryn T Mount Holyoke College
"I had possibly the best year of my life. I made some life-long friends, got to understand a new culture, and was exposed to so many different people from all over the world. Also, living on your own in a big city forces you to be more independent and mature much faster. It was so difficult to force myself on a plane to come back..."
Doris L Tufts University
"Yes. I have a whole new outlook on the world, and I think engineers don't normally think about going abroad but it should be a necessary requirement just to expand their horizons and outlooks."
Kenneth B Southern Illinois University - Edwardsville
"It would have been more worthwile had I been able to stay longer. That said, the program's intense language instruction was valuable and I enjoyed the tours arranged. Housing should be located on campus!!"
Tuan P University of Massachusetts - Boston
"It was worthwhile. I think it was one of the best things I have done for myself. I gained information about myself I didnt know I had and I know now I can do things on my own. "

"Yes, it was definitely worthwhile. I learned a lot about Japanese culture, and my Japanese got so much better. I would like to go back to Japan for travel/work/volunteer someday. "

"In terms of learning German, probably not. This was particularly difficult, despite my best efforts. I did gain a much better understanding of Austrian politics, culture, and history through my study abroad experience. Most of this is the result of my own interest (I read the paper every day, discussed politics with Austrian..."
Megan H Wellesley College
"It was amazing. I made great friends, and was in an awesome country. I felt safe the whole time. The classes were interesting and very relevant. The staff was friendly. The organized trips were a ton of fun. The social scene was better than any other I've ever experienced."
Leor R University of Massachusetts Amherst
"It was worthwhile, but had definite drawbacks in terms of the culture in Austria (very xenophobic and unfriendly). It was also not as much of a help to my German language skills as I had hoped because the German spoken in Austria is very different from the German spoken in Germany and taught in America. "
Katherine V Wellesley College
"My perspective was broadened. I met people from a variety of backgrounds. I partied a lot. I traveled to 13 countries. I rode my bike every single day, sometimes for 8 hours at a time. I went to Christiana, where there are no laws. I saw how other cultures live. I realized what other cultures value. I learned to apprecia..."
Matthew R University of Southern California
"Yes it was worthwhile. I meet a lot of great people and students from all over the world. I actually meet a girl from Ghana there and she sent me an instant message on facebook. Maybe someday in the future if I ever stay in her country somewhere near to her, I can visit her. My French skills got much better. "

I learned who I was down there and became more confident in myself and what I do and believe. It was great to see all the different cultures living together..."
Kaitlin P Saint Norbert College
"First off, I want to say, that I am super close with my family and they provide so much support. In this experience, I learned that I can survive on my own. Yes, your parents and family are always there for you, but you just learn so much about yourself when they are not close by. Not only did I make life long friends from al..."
