Middlebury Schools Abroad is a program provider offering 32 abroad programs. Programs offered include Study Abroad and Intensive Language abroad programs in 18 countries such as Chile, The United Kingdom, United States, and Jordan.
Participants in the Middlebury C.V. Starr Schools Abroad don’t just study a language—they live it.
Many of our students major in disciplines other than foreign languages, yet all bring a level of proficiency that supports their commitment to language and cultural immersion. They sign and honor the Middlebury Language Pledge because they want the greatest possible challenge in a study abroad program and an authentic experience in every respect; academic, social, and even professional.
Participants take courses in most subjects, often with host country students, intern or engage in volunteer work, and live with a family or local students. Indeed, at every juncture of their time abroad, students have the chance to "live the language" and immerse themselves in the host culture.
Middlebury also offers intensive summer immersion programs in ten languages, as well as graduate programs in eight of these languages. For graduate studies, visit http://www.middlebury.edu/ls/grad_programs/ and for Language Schools, visit http://www.middlebury.edu/ls/.

"Arabic skills, cultural knowledge, political awareness, friends"
A student Wellesley College
"The roommates and teachers are amazing and you'll want to keep in touch. The language study is intense, but you'll make a lot of progress."
A student Wellesley College
"My Spanish got a LOT better. I learned I can make a life in a new place and that it's ok to feel super challenged and make mistakes and learn from them... I also learned that being uncomfortable in a situation is ok (obviously as long as it's safe). It's good to be in new positions even if they aren't familiar."
Louisa Crane Wellesley College
"I developed my Spanish and I learned how to lead a balanced life while living outside the college bubble. "
Roo Weed Middlebury College

A student Middlebury College
"It was mostly about staying in a different culture and improving language skill rather than learning something serious in an academic area."
A student Middlebury College
"It helped me grow as a person. It was the first time I ever cooked for myself. And even though I have lived away from home for 5 years at that point, I felt a whole lot more independent. I learnt that libraries are hidden jewel mines waiting to be discovered. It was worth it for sure."
A student Middlebury College
"Living in Amman "
Jinseul Jun Middlebury College
"I really improved as a student, especially in my independent abilities. I also have seen a noticeable difference in my academic confidence, especially in discussion. I made amazing friends who I still keep in touch with. Oxford is just also a magical and beautiful place."
Sophia Tew Wellesley College
"Language aside, I got to really explore Japanese culture, and it was definitely worthwhile. I made one friend in particular who I am still in contact often with so that alone was worth it for me. I also got to travel around a lot and make lots of memories with amazing people. "
A student Wellesley College
"I learned a lot about the British educational system. "
A student Middlebury College

Elias Guerra Middlebury College
"I have a solid mastery of French. The experience of living in a big city such as Paris for the first time makes you have to adjust. There was so much to gain from the cultural offerings available in the city. Yes, it was worthwhile."
A student Middlebury College
"CMRS was pretty intense but I learned how to engage more deeply with texts and write better essays. I made a lot of new friends and came back a far better student. "

"Definitely my language skills improved. I really learnt to stay in the moment and appreciate the time I had there. I was definitely worthwhile "
Hiu-Tung Karen L Middlebury College
"I really learned how to care about my work because it was personally interesting to me, not because it was assigned. Super worthwhile. "

"Beyond my language skills I gained a great deal of cultural knowledge. I also gained a great deal of confidence in public speaking, making new friends, and confronting uncomfortable situations (especially since I encountered them in a new language!)"
James Fleming Oberlin College

A student Middlebury College
