BYU International Study Programs (ISP) offers varied types of experiences abroad in an effort to meet the diverse needs and goals of students. We offer four main types of programs:
• Study Abroad: A group of students live together and are led by on-site BYU faculty.
• International Internship: This is an independent, work-oriented experience. (BYU students only.)
• Direct Enrollment (Student Exchange): A student enrolls at a contracted university overseas while paying only BYU tuition. (BYU students only.)
• Field School: This is a hands-on research-based cohort experience abroad.

"It was definitely a growing experience for me. It wasn't all good but the bad things taught me things I will probably need in the future so it was, in the end, an important adventure. "

A student Brigham Young University
"I learned what it's like to live in another country in a demographic completely different from what I grew up in. I learned to be grateful for the blessings I have and for my family. I learned how to love others and myself better. I felt a greater love for the kids I worked with than I knew I was capable of. I grew so much and b..."

"That China has some very interesting and innovative engineering feats. Also, they have some "Mega" problems and really neeed to pool all their resources to address them. But there is no better way to learn innovation than by seeing it."
Derek W Brigham Young University
"I learned how to be a more patient individual. To love children and people that I never knew before. "
A student Brigham Young University
"I learned so much about myself and became a better person because of this experience. I also discovered a deeper love for theatre than I already had and gained a desire to travel more outside of the USA. I might even move to London and immerse myself in the culture and theatre scene there because of this experience."

"This experience is the most worthwhile experience of my entire education. It is the perfect foundation and resource for my major in Art History and Curatorial Studies. Having a personal experience with art is irreplaceable and invaluable. "
Melanie A Brigham Young University
"I learned how to solve problems with no "perfect" solution. I'm so excited to apply it to my job. I learned that people can understand basic physics principles without having formal training. I learned that there are challenges in the world that I can provide a solution for."

"I feel like I gained an amazing preview and overview of the culture of Spain. Living with host families further enhanced this experience because we felt like part of the family and were able to interact with them on a day to day level. It was definitely worthwhile. I would do it again in a heartbeat and would encourage everyone ..."

"I feel like I really came to understand the Spanish culture. I also loved that we saw so much of Spain in so little time. It was worth every penny and every sacrifice. "
A student Brigham Young University
"Personally, I grew a lot. I would never take back this experience. However, I wish that I had done a different study abroad experience. I would not recommend it to others because of the disorganization. Please, go through an actual BYU Study Abroad Program. Not this one."
Kimberly P Brigham Young University
"Learned tons about the Chinese banking system, but I was also able to learn about the local culture and about networking with BYU's alumni"
A student Brigham Young University
"It was absolutely worthwhile. I learned the language, made some great friends, fell in love with the country and its people, and become a more knowledgeable person. I loved it!"
A student Brigham Young University
"It's hard to put into words what this experience did for me. I feel like everyone in the program learned very personal life lessons. Being away from your normal surroundings and not only learning, but living with and experiencing new and exciting things with the same group of people allows you to learn things about yourself as y..."

"Through the Vienna Study Abroad, I became acquainted with Central European history and culture. In addition, I got to freshen up my German and polished my philistine side to allow a little appreciation of art. When someone mentions the World Wars, I know much more background concerning the first and understand more about why it ..."

"I can't even list all that I gained/learned from my experience. I gained friends, street skills, self-confidence, independence, etc. It was the most worthwhile thing I've ever done!"
A student Brigham Young University
"It was definitely worth it. The culture isn't super different from the USA, but it's enough different that it really made me appreciate some things about the US and some of the unique things about England. "

"I learned a ton not only about the language, culture, people of Spain, architecture, history, etc., but also about myself. I discovered, based on the relationships I made with my fellow study abroad students, what kind of man I want to marry.
