"The cultural differences between countries can be over come if one is about to open ones mind."
Soren B Brigham Young University
"I really gained a great appreciation for Russian culture. I fell in love with Moscow itself: its people, its food, the metro, even the weather at times. The internship program was very worthwhile. It was one of the best periods of my life."
Greg B Brigham Young University
"I learned how to have patience with other students, communicate better in Spanish, live in a European country, make friends with the locals, and make the best out of the situation (have an attitude of what I can give to these people, not what I can get from them). I wouldn't trade the experience for anything."
Elizabeth D Brigham Young University
"Academically this was the best thing I could be doing right now. Don't regret it. Socially it's been a tough year, and the best thing I can say regarding that is that I've learned a lot about myself. "
india.johnson.334 Brigham Young University
"I learned more about myself than anything. I learned to live (in a foreign country!) by myself, cope with struggles by myself, get things done by myself, do scary things by myself. The list goes on and on. It was hard to get out of my comfort zone and embrace an entirely new culture, but in the end, I gained so much valuable exp..."

"First and foremost I became more responsible. The program provided me with outlines and opportunities to be incredibly responsible with time, keys, possessions, and schedules. I came home and then took off again to visit my brother in New Hampshire. I found that I was one of the most responsible people on the trip. Second, the w..."

"totally worthwhile. would have rated it 100 but I didn't take the time to study the language before I left. Also thaught it would be easy to find a spanish/english dictionary when already there. Get one before you go. So make the most of it with preparation."
A student Brigham Young University
"I loved the cultural aspect of this study abroad. It taught me so many lessons about working with a multicultural class and how to work with students from diverse backgrounds. I loved the opportunity to share my culture with others. The teaching aspect was amazing. Although it is pretty different from the American system it was ..."

"My mind has been opened to so many more possibilities of living and choosing and learning. "
Madeleine H Brigham Young University
"My experience abroad was so worthwhile! I loved every second of it. I loved the children over there so much. I would highly recommend this program. I learned so much about the culture and the language. I gained so much from this experience that will help me in the future. The experience was an eye opener and something I won't ev..."

"I learned more about the European Culture. I also learned more Portuguese, especially more business lingo."
Kevin E Brigham Young University
"I learned a new culture and language, tried new foods and the specialties of each town, met amazing people, saw extraordinary things - all of which I will never forget! Those 12 weeks were like living in a dream. If only it didn't have to come to an end :( "
annieekirk Brigham Young University
"I learned how to take responsibilities for my own actions. I learned how to teach others to be responsible for their actions. I learned how to love more than I thought possible and I learned how to forget yourself and immerse yourself in the work you are doing."
A student Brigham Young University
"Absolutely worthwhile. I learned how to work with people I don't get along with. I learned how to live with gratitude and not judge. I learned how to push through something instead of give up. I learned how to work better with kids. I gained confidence in myself. "
Jodie S Brigham Young University
"I learned a lot about other religious beliefs. I learned how to do things on my own. I learned how to appreciate art. etc. etc. :)"
kayla.bowman.94 Brigham Young University
"It was very worthwhile. I would have wanted to have more friends, and dive deeper into the culture. I made significant leaps in listening, speaking, reading, and writing. I feel like the program was designer more for that, and I made greater advances in language skills, which was my aim as well."
Sarah W Brigham Young University
"I learned so much about other people and their culture and how it changed from country to country. There is so much to learn about the world and the people in it."
A student Brigham Young University
"I reached an advanced level of Arab reading, listening, and speaking ability. I developed a love for the culture with all its quirks and problems."
Matthew B Brigham Young University
"The first half of my program (6 weeks) was fantastic. I really liked the city and I was excited to speak the language as much as possible. After that, I think I just mentally checked out and was beyond ready to go home. This experience taught me how much I really do love America and being able to communicate quickly and effectiv..."
Cori J Brigham Young University
"Each culture has something different to offer that we must learn to appreciate. Yes, it was worthwhile."
Martina M Brigham Young University
"I grew a lot as a person and became more responsible. It was worthwhile to push myself to do new things and try things that were scary."
Alison M Brigham Young University
"I really got out of my comfort zone. I learned so much how things and comforts don't make you happy--it's the people around you, and how you look at your situation. I learned that life is about what you do, not what you have. I had my eyes opened, and I was humbled by what I saw. I saw the best and worst of humanity, and life, b..."
tillie.watkins Brigham Young University
"It was definitely worthwhile. I wouldn't change it for anything. I learned a lot about myself and who I want to be because of the influences around me. I learned how the church is true no matter where you are and there is need all over the world for people to help, even in developed, wealthy countries. I learned so much about th..."

"I learned a lot of language, and a lot about Chinese culture. I also learned a lot about myself, and how I interact with others. I grew up a lot and became much more independent. It was definitely worthwhile! "
emilyjanestewart Brigham Young University
"I improved my reading, speaking, and listening abilities, I made good friends, and I gained priceless experiences which taught me about Arab culture, Islam, Middle East politics, and life in general. It was most definitely worthwhile!"
