CIEE is a program provider offering 395 abroad programs. Programs offered include Study Abroad, Internship, Intensive Language, and Online Program abroad programs in 32 countries such as Italy, Spain, Netherlands, and Botswana.
CIEE is a nonprofit study abroad and intercultural exchange organization that transforms lives and builds bridges between individuals and nations by sponsoring a wide variety of opportunities for the exchange of ideas and experiences. CIEE helps people develop skills for living in a globally interdependent and culturally diverse world, and contributes to a more peaceful global community by humanizing international relations.
CIEE partners with overseas universities to provide direct matriculation options, creates CIEE courses to add to the offerings, and staffs each Study Center with CIEE-employed Resident Staff who provide co-curricular activities and around-the-clock student services. We offer quality academics with opportunities for cultural engagement such as excursions, homestays, volunteer opportunities, and internships to provide the highest quality study abroad experiences.

Study Abroad with CIEE
"It was definitely worthwhile in the sense that it made me realize that I DON'T like Japan that much and DON'T want to live and work there like I had originally thought. In that sense it saved me the trouble of getting a job there and being committed to living there for several years and likely growing to hate it. I learned a l..."

"It made me more confident about my future. "

"This was definitely worthwhile. I learned a lot about different cultures, how they coincide with each other, the language and how much it means to different countries, etc. I feel like my cultural awareness has matured a lot. Unfortunately, the rest of my academic career is laid out with no wiggle room, so I will not be able to ..."

"it was absolutely worthwhile. gained a better understanding of the world for the average citizen of the world, not the average citizen of the west. i got a chance to see how millions live without true and simple luxuries of life that we as westerners take for granted and consider essential. "

"IT was definately worthwhile and it improved my spanish and cultural awarness. If I decide to go to grad school, somewhere in Spain is at the top of my list. "
Erin R The University of Texas at Austin
"It was very worthwhile experience. I learned about myself, the culture and Spanish life. I highly recommend going abroad. Not only does it broaden your horizons, but it's such a unique point in your life in that you have a built it time to explore, travel, have fun, and engage in the world around you with the encouragement of yo..."

"YESSSSSSSSS-studying abroad is sooo sooo worth it. College is incredible but I think that if you have the chance, everyone should study abroad-it's such a once in a lifetime experience. I went to Prague because I was not very interested in learning a language, but I definitely learned a lot about the Czech culture, politics, lif..."

"Very worthwhile. I miss Rennes and my life there every day."
Benjamin W University of Arkansas - Fayetteville
"I loved this program. I did not come into this program with the mindset of "hey I'm a junior in college let's go study abroad!" I came into this program with the mindset of therapy, recooperation, and self healing based on previous events that happened before I left for the DR. Because of this, I did not have a typical study abr..."

"Personally, it made me realize just how much of a control freak I am. The Dominican Republic is not conducive to that way of being, and it has taught me patience like I never would have imagined. Academically and in terms of career goals, I now have a very clear idea of what I would like to do with myself after I graduate. Up..."

"Absolutely. CIEE provided a bunch of cultural excursions to help us better understand the region and it's issues. I volunteered in two different places and was able to learn about the community from that perspective. The people on the program, as well as the local UCT students who lived with us were all incredibly open minded an..."

"It was in the sense that I got to go to a film school. I WOULD NEVER reccomend CIEE to ANYONE. the program treated us like we were 12 years old and made integrating even worse because they forced us to do all this stuff together. They were super strict about EVERYTHING and made for a stressful abroad experience. The also don't ..."

"I could write a 20 page paper on this, but this survey was already to long. It was just the best experience ever. Highlight of my time at Tufts. I love Tufts, but I love Buenos Aires-CIEE more. "

Jennifer T Providence College
"It was very worthwhile. I had a great time, and although I had some disappointments, the traveling experience, the culture shock, really helped me to understand there is more than just a US way of living. This is something I thought I already understood, but I was incorrect, and now I have a better understanding. "
Sarah M University of Arkansas - Fayetteville
"Oh yes it was very worthwhile. I improved my Spanish and got to travel so much. I also made some incredible new friends and had a really fun time. It also helps you become more independent. "
Alexandra S Providence College
"My study abroad experience was one of the, if not the best experiences I have had in terms of learning about myself. Not only did I become more confident, but I learned what it is that I want in my life and how I want to live my life. I am now a lot more aware of what my life goals are and how I would LIKE to achieve them."
Caitlin R Providence College
"Yes, loved it. "
Erin G Providence College
"My study abroad experience was so worthwhile! I had so many doubts and fears in the months prior to my departure to Spain, but I was soon put at ease when I met other students who were going through the same things that I was. I have made the most incredible friends that I hope to keep in touch with when I return to the United ..."

"It was definitely worthwhile. I would go back again in a heartbeat. I learned about a culture that I did not know really existed. I learned many things academically about public health, but I also learned to laugh, dance, and communicate with others that I never thought I would get the chance too. "
Robin S Drake University
"It is hard to pinpoint my gain from this program. I learned so much from it: about myself, my heritage, and also my family."
