Direct Enrollment/Exchange is a program provider offering 1872 abroad programs. Programs offered include Study Abroad, Internship, Volunteer, Intensive Language, Gap Year, Graduate Program, High School, Research, Online Program, TEFL Courses, and Adventure Travel abroad programs in 121 countries such as Spain, Venezuela, The United Kingdom, and Ireland.
Below you will find a directory of foreign universities and reviews from students who participated in an exchange, or in direct enrollment.
In a Direct Enrollment program, students have the option of applying directly to the university they wish to attend abroad. Students can go for either one or two semesters and apply using that university's application process listed for international students. Sometimes these students are called Visiting Students, Guest Students or Free Movers. At the foreign university, they will be supported by the university's office of international students, housed with other international students and have the opportunity not only to immerse in a foreign culture, but to do so with students from all over the world.
In an Exchange, you attend a foreign university and a foreign student attends your home university, a student swap for a semester or year. Your university will handle the details of the exchange, you just need to find the ideal foreign university. Hopefully the listings and reviews below can help you down that path. You will need to contact your university's study abroad department or your academic advisor for details on the exchange because the number of valid/active exchange partners may be very limited.

"Yes, my experience was very much worthwhile. Especially in the area of language acquisition, which was my main goal, I felt I gained a lot but I also gained much in terms of valuable experience and life-time friends. "
Catherine S Wellesley College
"It was definitely worthwhile. I learned a lot about myself and made great friends. It showed me though how much I appreciate Wellesley's academics, and even certain parts of its small community. Being at a bigger school was great, but the academics fell short. "
Skylar V Wellesley College
"Definitely studying abroad is better than spending a semester at your home institution. It's a very introspective time, you learn a lot about yourself, and appreciate different things back home. I met dozens of amazing people, each from different backgrounds offering different stories. "
Sarah M Wellesley College
"I got to travel more than I expected and I have a fabulous internship, but honestly I feel like it was a waste of time. The quality of education here is no where near what it is at Wellesley and the fact that the program goes into June is ridiculous and cuts out a fair portion of summer internship opportunities. "
Grady B Wellesley College
"I learned about what kind of city makes me happy. What factors are important to me in terms of quality of life (eg. fresh farmer's market versus good shopping nearby). The importance of public transport. I also learned what kind of student I am on a "global" level. It was interesting to have the comparison with French studen..."
Julia S Wellesley College
"I went on an archeological dig I saw many other ancient ruins I did and saw many things I could never do in america and I met many great people"
David D SUNY - Binghamton
"My study abroad experience was definitely worthwhile, I learned so much about myself and other cultures and people. I would definitely travel, but stay some weekends in Florence because it is an amazing city! I think that my time abroad has been the most life-altering and educational experience I have had in college! "
sara t SUNY - Binghamton
"I'm happy I spent some time out of New York City/the US - I appreciate being here more now."
Megan S Barnard College
"It was definitely worthwhile. I think I have a greater confidence in myself and have learned so much (not just academically). "
Genta S Barnard College
"As a graduating senior, my abroad experience was a personal journey right before I enter into the real world. I not only feel in love the city of Tel Aviv and the land of Israel but in the process I learn a lot about myself. It was an incredible experience. "
Rebecca Y SUNY - Binghamton
"It helped me more on a personal level than in a global context"
Pascale E SUNY - Binghamton
"My study abroad experience was definitely worthwhile. I learned more about British culture, met amazing people from all over the world, and have great memories to look back on. "
Amanda F SUNY - Binghamton

Randi H SUNY - Binghamton
"Worth every penny. I want to go back and maybe live in Australia one day"
Samantha A SUNY - Binghamton
"Florence is an incredible city. It is so unfortunate that so much of my experience was ruined by Lorenzo De Medici. I wish I could do it again and choose and different program. I strongly advise anyone and everyone to go abroad, specifically to Florence but through any program other than LDM. It is horrible."
Tamar D SUNY - Binghamton
"Studying abroad was one of the best decisions I made in college. Although I was very well traveled, I'd never been to Rome. I'm happy that I took many trips throughout Italy and really got to know the country I was studying in. Studying abroad provides you will difficult challenges, but the experience helps you to grow and matur..."

"Studying abroad enables you to live independently, enhances your street smarts, and gives you a set of eyes that you would not otherwise attain. By throwing yourself into a radically different environment, you have the opportunity to grow and learn about yourself. It sounds cliched and to some extent it is, but it's also true an..."

"I gained my first steps and fundamentals toward speaking Japanese and starting my future here in Japan. Studying in a different country has made me aware of many things about not only Japan but many other countries. For example, not only is America a tossed salad consisting of many different nationalities; but Japan is actually ..."
Ashley B University of Nebraska - Kearney
"I think studying abroad was one of the best things I have ever done. I can not stress enough how much I loved the experience."
Kelly M SMFA - School of the Museum of Fine Arts
"Of course it was worthwhile."
Laura G The College of William and Mary
"It definitely was. DEFINITELY. I got so much better at Chinese and learned a lot. Being in China was excellent practice and I think unless you go there, there are lots of things you won't fully grasp about the language or culture."
Jessica H The College of William and Mary
"It was worthwhile. I got to travel a lot during breaks and each course I took provided great education to my geography background."
Emily M Clark University
"I enjoyed my study abroad experience A LOT, but it is all about what you make of it. There were many things that I did not like, but there were many things that I did like. As long as you don't get the adminstrative details get to you, you should have a great time! Beaches around Perth are beautiful. I also enjoyed Syndey!..."
Pedro G SUNY - Binghamton
"My experience in Egypt was absolutely worthwhile, and though it is not the easiest type of study abroad experience, it added a whole new dimension to my understanding of the Middle East and my understanding of myself as an American. I am a Middle Eastern Studies major and I had traveled to Morocco and Turkey before I came to Egy..."

"Yes. If you go during the Spring, you have a 3 week Spring break which provided me with time to travel across Ireland for a week and backpack throughout Europe for 2 weeks. "
