CIEE is a program provider offering 395 abroad programs. Programs offered include Study Abroad, Internship, Intensive Language, and Online Program abroad programs in 32 countries such as Italy, Spain, Netherlands, and Botswana.
CIEE is a nonprofit study abroad and intercultural exchange organization that transforms lives and builds bridges between individuals and nations by sponsoring a wide variety of opportunities for the exchange of ideas and experiences. CIEE helps people develop skills for living in a globally interdependent and culturally diverse world, and contributes to a more peaceful global community by humanizing international relations.
CIEE partners with overseas universities to provide direct matriculation options, creates CIEE courses to add to the offerings, and staffs each Study Center with CIEE-employed Resident Staff who provide co-curricular activities and around-the-clock student services. We offer quality academics with opportunities for cultural engagement such as excursions, homestays, volunteer opportunities, and internships to provide the highest quality study abroad experiences.

"Studying abroad helped me to become more independent and confident. It also opened me up to Africa. I knew little of South Africa before I went. But now I am in love with the country and I am much more interested in Africa. This program helped me realize just how complex South Africa is and often how misunderstood South Africa a..."

Brittany D Hope College
"Yes, absolutely. It made me so much more self-confident, I got first-hand exposure to the challenges of development and working in the developing world, and my internship exposed me to an issue, electronic waste, that I was not aware of but that I've now pursued back in the US and am writing my senior thesis on. Being in Ghana ..."

"The experience proved me with cultural awareness and I have future plans to return to the city because it was so amazing. I had a great time meeting other Americans and interacting with Spanish locals while learning more about the cultural and the language. "
Felicia P The University of Texas at Austin
"Absolutely. I gained skills, I made friends, I had experiences that will never be equaled by anything ever again. The educational aspect of the program was pretty sucky- I did not glean much of an education from CIEE- but the cultural aspect and everything else, the people, the place, EVERYTHING ELSE, was brilliant beyond brilli..."

"Studying abroad is no doubt something everyone should do. You learn so much about other cultures as well as yourself. I cannot even put into words how studying abroad has affected me. When I graduate in December, I will not take a job that does not involve international participation. "
Brittany B The University of Texas at Austin
"It was the most incredible experience. I learned so much about myself and other people, and how great a different way of life can be. I think that Spain is a relaxing and beautiful place, with such rich culture and history. The people, Sevilla, and everything about my whole experience has given me the travel bug and I can't w..."
Jenni P The University of Texas at Austin
"My experience was so much more than credit fulfillment. Because of my time abroad I've become more understanding, more aware of my own abilities and more appreciative of my own culture. Also, I've recognized that I want to be more daring in my future career choices and life decisions because even though risks are always challeng..."

"There may never be another time in your life when you are so carefree, happy, aware of one part of the world, unaware of the part, tired, confused, out of place, and excited. "
Jasmine T The University of Texas at Austin
"Absolutely. While i have a lot of criticisms, it was one of the most wonderful things i have ever done. What I learned, in and out of school, cannot even be summarized here. I learned so much history, culture, music, and life lessons. Meeting new people, from a different lifestyle is a gift, and an important experience. It truly..."

"Definitely! Half of what I enjoyed was all the amazing friends I made and people I met, and the other half was the city itself, just magical! Makes me want to travel, look into living abroad for an extended amount of time in the future for sure."

"Although I gained some important and applicable experience, it wasn't worth giving up the summer for."
Sarah Y The University of Texas at Austin
"I learned so much it is impossible to distill down into a few sentences. I deepened my understanding of not only myself, but the world around me and my place and role within that world. I gained a self assurance and confidence, a deepening knowledge of who I am, what I am capable of and what I am becoming. I learned how it is ..."

"There are many things you realize after you experience being a foreigner in a different country. Their way of everyday living and communication is vastly different from ours in America and I believe that after spending 20 years in the same country, that it was good for me to get out and see how other people live. This experien..."

"See above. I loved the program. The only hard part was studying during what in the US is summer. On the bright side, the program is only two months; most universities don't begin until end of August, early September leaving almost a month and a half of summer vacation. "

"This is not my first time in China, but I had still to learn so much about this amazing country. It was definatelly worthwhile and I would do it all over again. I became even more culturally relative and ready to embrace the differences. There were tough moments now and then, but these moments are not something that I am going t..."
