Direct Enrollment/Exchange is a program provider offering 1872 abroad programs. Programs offered include Study Abroad, Internship, Volunteer, Intensive Language, Gap Year, Graduate Program, High School, Research, Online Program, TEFL Courses, and Adventure Travel abroad programs in 121 countries such as Spain, Venezuela, The United Kingdom, and Ireland.
Below you will find a directory of foreign universities and reviews from students who participated in an exchange, or in direct enrollment.
In a Direct Enrollment program, students have the option of applying directly to the university they wish to attend abroad. Students can go for either one or two semesters and apply using that university's application process listed for international students. Sometimes these students are called Visiting Students, Guest Students or Free Movers. At the foreign university, they will be supported by the university's office of international students, housed with other international students and have the opportunity not only to immerse in a foreign culture, but to do so with students from all over the world.
In an Exchange, you attend a foreign university and a foreign student attends your home university, a student swap for a semester or year. Your university will handle the details of the exchange, you just need to find the ideal foreign university. Hopefully the listings and reviews below can help you down that path. You will need to contact your university's study abroad department or your academic advisor for details on the exchange because the number of valid/active exchange partners may be very limited.

"Looking back, I should have spent more time paging through books or hitting the stacks. Although I didn’t make the dean’s list or honor roll, I would say that studying abroad is the best place I’ve ever taken my academic career, but largely for extracurricular reasons. The freest schedule that I’ve ever had coupled with the m..."

"Worthwhile indeed! I went to France in order to find independence in my life and to prove to myself that I can be uprooted from my life here and live on my own. I found independence and I learned so much more about the culture than any textbook could teach me! I learned to step outside of my comfort zone and take a look around a..."
Michael M University of Northern Colorado
"The people that I met and the friends I made, whether they were part of the program or local students, made the experience worthwhile. Being open to ideas and experiences that I had not planned on, were actually what made the experience that much better. "

"Studying at the University of Botswana was an incredible eye-opener. I learned a new language, met new people, and gained insight into a culture completely different from the ones I had been familiar with previously. It was unbelievable, from the food, to the music, to the misunderstandings, and more. I cannot imagine having spe..."

"I absolutely adored my study abroad experience and would do it all over again in a second if I could. I gained a stronger sense of independence and confidence that I still carry with me as well as friends from Australia whom I still keep in touch with. My time in Adelaide was seriously four of the best months of my life and I ..."

Jean C The University of Texas at Austin
"My study abroad was most definitely worthwhile! I hope to study or live abroad in the future. While this was my second time studying abroad for a longer period of time, I still feel like I became more culturally aware. (My last time was in a smaller town whereas this time was in a big city.) I lived a semester as a "German stude..."

"It was by far the best thing I could have done for myself. I'm significantly more independent and able to travel alone competently. It made me more aware of how the rest of the world views America, despite how welcoming the Welsh are. I would definitely consider living abroad sometime in the future. "

"I'm going to include a poem for this, "The Men Who Don't Fit In," by Robert Service: There's a race of men that don't fit in, A race that can't stay still; So they break the hearts of kith and kin, And they roam the world at will. They range the field and they rove the flood, And they climb the mountain's crest; Thei..."

"It was more than worthwhile. It really did make me more open minded, more sure of myself and sure of what I want, more confident and more empowered. One surprising effect of learning so much about another country was that it made me more interested in my own country. Seeing a contrasting view of how another country handles thing..."

"My study abraod experience was definitely worthwhile. I tried a lot of new things in Erfurt, such as aerobics, going to museums and concerts, going to clubs and parties with my friends (I just turned 21), and socialized a lot more in Erfurt than I did with my friends at UT Austin due to the fact that it was easier to manage my t..."

"My study abroad experience was, to put it simply, life changing. I found out so much about myself and grew a great deal personally. I met so many incredible people and made a few life long friends. "I said no because I think I would want to go to a university that had classes that I was more interested in. As for the city, I loved Budapest and would definitely go back to the city again. I learned so much about the world and about myself, I could not have asked for a better experience. I know hope to go abroad again next ..."
Alissa K SUNY - Binghamton
"It was worthwhile because I am a more resilient and resourceful person. I had alot of time to reflect and learn about myself. Like all bad experiences you end up learning alot and growing stronger. While there were some good things, the landscape, and some friends I made, the art I pushed myself to create, on the whole it was a ..."
